There are gardens to explore outside of the fort and there is a wonderful - and HUGE - park right across the way (perfect for picnics and playing with our four-legged companions).
Chief Factor's residence and connecting kitchen, blacksmith shop, bakery, etc. Nearby Aviation Museum, Historical housing, historical hospital, history talks, teas, restaurants...

The outside yard is always well kept, with large grassy areas for seating outside, and across the street is a large gazebo that is perfect for taking photographs, and can be rented in advance.
Then on to visit the historic Fort Vancouver which was recreated in full scale and includes tours and shows the history of one of the first permanent settlements in the Northwest.

The trail has interpretive signage about native plants that are maintained along the walk, as well as historical photographs with information on local places/events.
The bridge itself contains nooks and murals which talk about the history of the area starting early settlement, the ship building industry that was developed to support the World War II effort.

Whether you are sitting in the warm and cozy bar area or on the large spacious porch looking out on to the Parade area of Old Fort Vancouver, the experience is very unique.
This is the only eatery on the grounds but we were so happy we were able to experience it.

We had a free afternoon, so after a wonderful lunch at Elephant's Deli, we rode across the Tilikum Bridge, then the Eastside Esplanade, and back to the Westside for Rose festival fun.
What lovely sights to savor, viewing the city and the Willamette River while strolling across the Tilikum Crossing that was was colorfully lit as the sky became darker.
