What travelers are saying
- jegIllinois3 contributionsThe Column is located up a paved, windy street and once you get to the park, you must pay $5 to get into the space. NO TURN AROUNDS so you're committed. Luckily, we were there on a sunny day and the view was spectacular. It is possible to climb the internal Column steps to the top viewing platform, but we just enjoyed the views from the grounds. It's a great place to see the very long bridge that connects Washington and Oregon.Written December 16, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Susan J13 contributionsThis is such a fun & informational tour. Our guides were friendly & informative. It gave a great overall explanation of the city then & now. The ride itself is up & back on the same track. We got up at one end & the seats "flip" so you aren't going backwards on the return. What a great restoration of this trolley.Written September 26, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- machinmadYaxley, UK2,663 contributionsAn interesting visitors centre chronicling the explorers who first discovered this area. The info boards are really informative, the full sized replica fort really makes you think about how hard life was for their expedition. Lots of trails eminate from the site, easy and hard.Written October 14, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Julie BNew Orleans, LA184 contributionsI went on the MLK holiday so admission was free. Nice museum, interesting fort and plenty of good trail choices. I lucked out with a sunny day which doesn't always happen in January!Written January 20, 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - x17011995Romford, UK79 contributionsEasy access, we parked in Safeway about 10 minutes away. There were clear signs to follow to reach the house.
You can take photos and there is a donation box for the owners. The houses on the hill in the surrounding area are also beautiful.Written November 17, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. We were driving from WA direction and when entering the bridge (no tolls) you drive almost right above the water. At around half the river the bridge starts to elevate pretty steep, and you drive uphill until you reach the highest point before descending down at Astoria, Oregon side.
It took around 5 min to cross, however lousy weather spoiled the experience a little bit.Written May 29, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. The luxury bathroom with the big tub is impressive. Self guided 2 story home.Written May 14, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - BrakiWorldTravelerBelgrade, Serbia20,003 contributionsAstoria served as our lunch break during an all day drive. Just after we crossed the iconic Astoria Megler bridge we parked for lunch. Luckily during it rain stopped so we took a walk by the river.
Astoria was the first settlement in Oregon set on a strategic location by the Columbia river. During our 20 min stroll we were greeted with great bridge and river views with passing ships.Written May 29, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. It was a blessing to have him as our tour guide in past years. We were in Astoria in June for his Memorial service.Written January 10, 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - KayDawn97Arizona570 contributionsGPS took my one road over but they were right by each other and it’s super easy to turn around. There is a small brown road sign that points at the correct road. It was a short walk down. There are some stairs (though some are very steep) and a few roots you have to step over but nothing terrible. It was a pretty easy trip down. And it is gorgeous. I’ll attach some pics of the stairs and path. Definitely recommend as a short pit stop if you’re out this way.Written June 10, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Dan SPortland, OR62 contributionsShowing my sister from Minneapolis the unique Astoria vibe and sights. Lunch stop had to be where we would get the freshest most favorite beer from the tap. We ordered the same thing-delicious clam chowder and the fried oysters and fries. Service was prompt downstairs though very busy. Didn't mind anyway cause the beer tasted so good. Relaxing, easy atmosphere no matter if you sat inside or out on patio. Everybody enjoying themselves and not real loud so we could talk. Loved our lunch experience!Written August 22, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Kevin RFrazier Park, CA138 contributionsCame on a very stormy, windy and rainy day. This place provides all the power of mother nature! The views of the very powerful ocean from the viewing platform was one I will not forget.
