- sheronb6139 contributionsNice little enclave and section of beach. Felt like I was in the Carribean. The retail restaurant section of the beach called beaches Towne Center was very upscale, clean and had a Carribean Bahama village feel.Written October 15, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Rita SMelbourne, FL1,920 contributionsSpectacular views of the river and city line. Level pavement shared by walkers, cyclists. and joggers. Benches throughout. Finding parking was challenging. - CutejembirdWakeman, OH567 contributionsPaved trail for running, walking, or biking. Nice ride. We rode 4 miles to Baldwin and back. It was flat. Majority of trail shaded. Passed an electric plant.Written February 3, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- FrequentFlier6619918 contributionsWhat an educational and fun tour! The tour was private and about 2 hours long. We learned so much within that time frame. Katrina is so welcoming, knowledgeable and passionate about the alpacas and her work with them. It's also very relaxing hanging out and feeding the animals. A must do!Written April 29, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- tameepNew Hampshire2 contributionsWe wanted to see wildlife in nature, this place did not disappoint! We saw a cotton mouth water mocosson, an ibis, and best of all, the gopher tortoises! It's totally worth the $5 parking fee at Lot 100, UNF campus.Written March 11, 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Gabrielle LJacksonville, FL72 contributionsI'm an amputee, having lost my left leg 7 years ago. I was a runner before losing my leg but was hesitant to run this large River Run after. Last year (2012) my Prosthetist decided to get a few amputees together to run this race. I ran with the small group. It was the a wonderful experience! I came back to run it this year (2013) with yet a larger group of amputees. Not only did I enjoy our group but also so many of the runners were so supportive, cheering us on, as well as spectators. I also talked with many walkers who had cancer, heart issues etc.. so many stories of over coming and fighting through so many medical struggles. Come out and be inspired!Written October 6, 2013This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- freddykSt. Johns, FL6 contributionsThis is not one of your run of the mill flat / no rough Florida courses! It is very challenging with water, greens protected by numerous sand traps, moguls, and deep rough. I think it is one of the best courses in the area for these reasons. With all the rain last year tge tee boxes and fairways list some of their cover but they are coming back.Written March 4, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Janette ZFort Lauderdale, FL191 contributionsA friend and I drove up two weeks ago for a weekend Horsemanship Clinic. First thing we were happy to see was the ample parking. There is a whole other outdoor ring/riding area we didn't get a chance to explore due to another horse show going on there, that I would love to go back and see. We could see the beautiful shed stalls and everything looked quite new or recently updated. We enjoyed the indoor area which was divided into two halves for the event we were attending, one side for vendors and the other for the demos. They have wonderful seating, not a bad seat in the house, easy access for any handicapped needs as well. Food was also quite good from the concession, including beer. The indoor area is a great multipurpose space, well ventilated, clean with great acoustics so it was easy to hear the trainer giving the demos. Also there are many bathrooms all around the facility, fairly clean for a venue of this size. Great place. Really look forward to returning for future events.Written May 30, 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Anthony RWilmington, DE2,277 contributionsDespite rampant (over)development in this part of northern Florida (and frankly, everywhere!), it’s always nice to have large swaths of land that is protected from the bulldozers. This lovely oasis is only steps away from a gigantic new housing development and shopping center, but only a few steps into the preserve from the parking lot, you feel like you are in the wilderness.
Miles of meandering trails take you through both wooded areas and open spaces, and the payoff for most of these hikes are the water features…you’re on a peninsula after all!
Plan to spend a couple hours here, but if you have any time constraints, plan ahead! It’s easy to get sidetracked on the many spurs from the main trails. Also, depending on the weather, you might need footwear that can handle muddy surfaces. Because you go back and forth between woods and open spaces, sunscreen AND bug spray are probably necessary.
Altogether a vitally important reminder of the rapidly disappearing natural beauty and delicate ecological balance in this part of the world!Written September 16, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Take your bug spray. Dog friendly. Foot trail, no bikes. đźšł
It's not a total escape; planes and helicopters from the nearby Navy base provide an unwanted ambience. Be careful about the posted trail maps. Posted maps are located at trail junctions. Friendly staff and not usually that crowded. Overall, a fun course.Written June 18, 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Mike353632Virginia Beach, VA2,042 contributionsThis was our first time playing here. Several golfers that I have played with said it is a nice course to play. They were correct. The pro shop staff is very friendly and our starter, Bill, was very helpful. There are several tees so a golfer of any level of experience can be comfortable playing here. The fairways at nicely tended and the green are very fast and true. There are a few water carries, depending upon which tees you play from. Water hazards themselves are really not an issue. There are sand traps galore. I would not advise walking the course. It meanders through neighborhoods, roadways, and wetlands. 1-26-2021Written January 27, 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Mike353632Virginia Beach, VA2,042 contributionsFirst time playing and we loved it. Staff was about average but the course was above average. It has contoured fairways, some with slight elevation changes. They seemed narrower than average for the area but it didn’t affect our play. The greens are also contoured and fairly large. Both fairway and greens were in great shape. The course winds through some homes and apartments as well as some woodsy areas. We saw plenty of wildlife – hawks, crows, herons and other birds. Didn’t see any alligators, probably because of the cooler temperature. There is plenty of water on the course. Par threes are of reasonable length, unlike some other local courses. There are plenty of tees to select from and if you want, you can mix and match your preferred distances. Pricing is at the $50 price point. We will return here. 3-19-2021Written March 20, 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
