Convict Lake

Gorgeous Easy Hike, Full Blown Nature
Worth the drive down to the end where you can park and walk down to the lovely lakeshore.
Rainbow Falls
#2 of 27 Nature & Parks in Mammoth Lakes
We were here in mid-September, just after the buses stopped running, so we were able to park at the trailhead.
The walk from either the Devil's Postpone or the Rainbow Falls car park is well worth it, and don't stop at the upper falls - as impressive as they are, the lower falls are just as impressive and if you're hot you...

Mammoth Mountain

Stunning amazing location , picture perfect very safe with nature all around , love it so peaceful We will visit again and ski
While Mammoth Lakes might be a bit difficult to get to (by Mono Lake, "just east" of Yosemite National Park off Highway 395), it has the highest elevation summit of any ski resort in California.
Devils Postpile National Monument
#4 of 27 Nature & Parks in Mammoth Lakes
Absolutely love this nature park, we did the hike to Devils Postpile and from there to Rainbow fall and have all ages and all hiking skills with us.
While the drive into the park is windy, it is much easier and shorter than the roads around Yosemite and some of the other access roads to see redwoods, etc. in CA.

Lake Mary

Fishing, Skiing, Hiking...or you can choose to commune with Nature, meditate and write a book....our family has been making the trek for generations.
Beautiful lake, with only a few people fishing, quite a relief after the crowds visiting the national parks.
Minaret Vista
#6 of 27 Nature & Parks in Mammoth Lakes
As you breathe in the fresh clean air, and admire nature’s wonders, you are suddenly transported to a whole different world, where you will forget all about your troubles.
You can drive right to the top park and walk to 30 feet to the Vista point -- after all that effort you are rewarded with spectacular views
Crystal Lake trail
#7 of 27 Nature & Parks in Mammoth Lakes
... from the main Lake far enough there weren't as many people and it was so delightful to Tool around through not very worn in pathways in the middle of the mountains with nothing but the sound of nature around you.
Mammoth Mountain Bike Park
#8 of 27 Nature & Parks in Mammoth Lakes
There are trails for beginners in the Discovery Park and heart stopping trails for experts off the top of the mountain.
Winter was still clearing (in late July!) and most of the park was still inaccessible, still: My new-to-mountain biking wife took a lesson and, after she mastered the beginner chair a few yards from the rental are...
Hot Creek

Natural wonders, nice place to learn about Mother Nature, easy little hike for all ages, be aware of a strong azufre odor ..!
This is one of those places where if you go up against Mother Nature you will most definitely lose.
Obsidian Dome
#10 of 27 Nature & Parks in Mammoth Lakes
There are several places you can park and explore the dome.
Because of the nature of the rocks and being glass like based, walking on the smaller chunks sounds like walking on broken ceramic flower pots...a tinkly crushing sound.
