The combination of an outdoor re-enactment of a period farm and a revolutionary war era encampment provides engaging learning opportunities for adults and children. Don't miss the flintlock and artillery firing demonstrations. The museum exhibits do a great job explaining the reasons for the growing divide between the colonists and the crown that erupted in war. Many audio and interactive exhibits that children will enjoy but plenty of "heavier" reading for adults wanting to brush up on the history knowledge.

What I liked most was having the ability to spend as much or as little time at a site. If you love the detail--listen to all of the commentary. Don't need all the details of the battle? You'll enjoy the overview.

It's great for the enthusiast or just those looking to learn a bit more about our history.

Such a nice town with a pretty decent beach with amenities and restaurants. It’s nice for a day with kids or to watch the sunset

The Colonial Parkway is a very tree filled and peaceful road. You are embraced by nature. We saw 4 deer on our drive. Many people were fishing in the James River. We saw beautiful brick bridges. Such a wonderful trip.

Though we were there on a Sunday evening and most everything was closed, you can see how the riverwalk would be a draw. We just enjoyed a quiet stroll along the water to wind up a day of sightseeing.

Lots of historical events occurred on these pastoral fields and forested lands. Amazing to drive and walk among the sites where our fore fathers fought for their lives to establish this new country’s experimental government called democracy.

This is an absolutely gorgeous monument. It stands for victory. The people of Yorktown were so delighted when Cornwallis surrendered, they had this commissioned. There were a few stumbling blocks along the way, but eventually they got the monument and it is well worth a look!

Really enjoyed the farmer's market even in light rain. Diverse suppliers had quality products and the food vendors were really good. There was music playing and a good presence of cops and everyone wore masks.

Definitely a small cemetery, no big fuss made about it. I was a little disappointed at how overgrown the grass was around it. It may have been larger than what it looked like, but it was hard to tell.

Watermen’s museum In Yorktown - small museum but they pack in a lot, each section tells a good story, covers native people period through today, must see all the model ships. Our 6 and 8 year olds loved the scavenger hunt which made them pay attention and learn a lot - very clever.

The auto tour of the Yorktown battlefield was one of the best parts of our trip to the Williamsburg area. We loved it.
The Moore house is one of the points on the auto tour. The house is not open to indoor visits at this time.

Not seeing a review since 2019, we were concerned they were another casualty of Covid-19. We came to Yorktown to get lunch on the Riverwalk. This gallery is on Main St, which is up the hill from the Riverwalk and easily missed by tourists. So happy to see "We're Open" as we pulled in.

This gallery contains lots and lots of handmade items by local artists. Right now there are loads of items in anticipation of Christmas. The woman who runs the gallery (as a volunteer) is there 6 days a week. Please visit this friendly lady.

Unfortunately the house was closed due to Covid still, in the middle of July, of 2021. But if you walk around it you can see 2 cannonballs stuck in its left side. Plaques around the area tell some of the owners history.

We visited (5 of us) the training center due to a graduation. The grounds were very clean and landscaped well. All personnel we spoke with were very polite. We were early to the event and because it was rainy and 50 degrees out, we were directed to a cyber cafe, which had comfortable chairs and a Starbucks, which offered coffee, mochas, muffins, bagels, etc. We spent a lot of time in there and was very comfortable. Each building we went in was very clean and impressive.
