If you're looking for something relaxing and free to do while in Ventura then come take a walk on the pier. Its actually quite long so it takes awhile to get to the end. The day we went it wasn't too crowded and we quite enjoyed our walk despite the fact it was pretty chilly with the wind blowing. I would definitely recommend dressing in layers with a long sleeve hoodie or jacket to keep you warm. Overall we had a great time and we would definitely visit here again.

Always a great ride especially in the fall. You can ride between Ventura and Ojai. I like stopping for lunch in between the ride back and forth.

Drive up to Serra Cross park and there will be plenty of parking. Lots of great views of the pier, beach, ocean and the city of Ventura.

There are several things packed into this small Visitor Center. The main/first floor has exhibits, many are “hands on”, and information about the Channel Islands. There is also a good video with an overview, a small gift shop and information desk with friendly staff on the first floor. On the third floor there is a viewing area, complete with telescope, which overlooks two sides of the Visitor Center. (Stairs and elevator available up to the third floor.) Outside there is a nice deck with seating on the marina side and a small, but interesting, botanical garden with native plants labeled. They also had a few of their native plants available to purchase.

Beautiful mission - worth a stop. If you enjoy the missions, you'll like this one. Good history and pretty gardens.

So this isn't what you would call your traditional garden, i've read that there was a huge fire which decimated this area along with others surrounding. This is very prevalent once you hike your way to the top of the mountain.

I wouldn't say this is the best garden to come with children to as there aren't any guardrails on the way up. If you dont have a good quality stroller i would also recommend skipping it as the floor is like a sand mixture that eats bad quality stroller wheels alive.. Trust me it was nearly impossible to push up the hill. The views are great from the top, however the only way down is back the way you went up so keep that in mind.

    Parking:
Plenty of free parking available up on the hill

    Bathrooms:
bathrooms require a key from the front cashier and are kept clean considering where its located.

    Pricing:
$7.00 for Adults and Children are Free

Overall: A nice hike for individuals or couples without kids and a good way to kill an hour or two if you happen to be in Ventura.

Surfer's Point Park is really a parking lot that fronts the walkway promenade along the beach. If you surf, go in the morning before it blows out. Ventura catches south swells poorly but the winter's NW swells come in fine. Families can rent pedal vehicles. The walkway goes a long way along the coast.

Ventura City Hall is a short walk from the restaurants on Main St. There is a lot of local art on display and it's free to enter. Well worth a visit.

Why do I love this beach? Let me count the ways
    1. Biking the whole stretch from the marriot street all the way to the other side past the bridge and mobile park trailer homes and then along the train tracks where bike tracks go high then dip deep then high again. Strong legs and knees required. Very scenic, not as many weirdos as venice nor as crowded, just filled with regular people really. Low key yet so much things to do and enjoy here.
    2. Did you know there is a seaglass beach here? It's near where the tide pools are. Might be more accessible during low tide
    3. Dog friendly beach. At least some part of it. They really love it here too!
    4. My fave taco place on the pier. Beach taco house. Never fails to deliver.
    5. A good place to view and marvel at the beautiful sunset.

Spectacular wine tasting experience. You'll want to join the high energy atmosphere with regular fun events to enhance the warm welcome one always receives by the Four Brix team.

Knowledgeable docents lead tours of the 1841 adobe and grounds. It is very well kept up and interesting. They also have concerts in the courtyard sometimes.

My husband and I checked in on a Tuesday and the park was super quiet. Beautiful lake but our site was not overlooking water. Our pad was dirt and was level. We have plenty of space but this site (B21) only had water and electric; did not have sewer hook up but there is a dump station nearby. of course there are sites that have full hook up. The park is beautiful and clean, great walking area, and perfect location for exploring Ojai, Ventura, and Carpenteria. Scenery is spectacular, cool to hear all the birds, staff very attentive. Very popular with boaters and fisherman. Our visit was Tuesday to Sunday and even though it was fully booked over the weekend and noisier than during the week, it was kind of nice to have the background noise of families having a great time. They have boat rentals available and a little café as well as a park store. Every site has a picnic table and a fire pit. We loved it! For us, this is a gorgeous portion of California.

Great views, love seeing the ocean just a stone's toss away from our trailer, love the sound of ocean waves crashing on the beach. We enjoy riding our bikes into town for lunch, and coming back for a nice dinner and camp fire.
What we don't like is that our bikes were stolen while we slept. In speaking with the park rangers the next day they admit to an issue where guns have been drawn by campers and fights have broken out while catching people sneaking into the camps to forage for anything of value. Lock your bikes IN your trailer as they thieves will cut through your lock and take anything not locked down while you sleep.

Saturday morning in Ventura, the fog is lifting and the sun is beginning to peek through. We ventured over to our favorite watering hole on Thompson Blvd.

With the current County changes back and forth, they have been closed, opened and closed again for serving brews at the tap room. Now with the collaboration with Tony's Pizzaria (a few doors down) and other food trucks, they are able to open again for dine out and serving their good brews.

We are "hop-heads", so we ordered their very good IPA "Chief Peak" as usual. Other brews for suggestion are the Level Line Pale Ale for those who want just a refreshing beer not too hoppy or Tux Nitro Milk Stout for those who want a sweeter dessert chocolate tasting pint. They also have hard seltzer for you non-beer drinkers.

We love the intimate and friendly establishment. The staff is amazing and feel like good old "friends" that would come over to our backyard cookouts. They are dog friendly!!! Lots of pooches from all walks of the canine world visit.

Since it was a Saturday, the food of the day was Tony's Pizzaria. My husband and I enjoy their pizza because it is the "good old days" California/New York style pizza. No frivolous toppings, just good old familiar toppings like pepperoni, sausage, even Anchovies!!. Their Hawaiian Pizza is DELICIOUS!! You can order by the slice or by the pie! They also have salads for you vegs out there!

It was a nice afternoon with good brews and pizza and good "friends".

So come by and drink a pint and support your local brewery.
Wear a Mask and help slow the Spread!
