The room we did was playground. It was very fun and took a lot of teamwork. The game guide, Sammy, was great!

Visited here last week (April 2022) with 5 other friends and it was the first ever escape room for 2 members of our group. We completed QUARANTINE & overall I had an joyful experience. However, I felt the room was a little small for 6 people and some of the puzzles were a bit confusing. Staff were friendly and good value for money, would return.

Super well organized and seamless process to get into the Room. The one we picked was challenging but a ton of fun - very impressed by the level of detail for the clues. Would definitely come again!

We are a family of 5 with 3 teens. We've done almost 200 escape rooms. We did all 3 rooms - Sugar Rush, High Speed NYC, and The perfect Heist. Overall, there are a lot of unique puzzle that match the theme. We really enjoyed them. Sugar rush is the most unique - and if you escape you get real cupcakes at the end (you pay ahead, but still very unique experience). Then we did High Speed NYC where you are in a subway car, that look very real. The the last one we did was the Perfect Heist - mobster theme. The most challenging room was the Perfect Heist. Staff was very friendly and attentive. We definitely would recommend.
Location: This is about a 15 min walk from the Theatre district, also right near Penn Station.
New to escape rooms: If you haven't done an escape room before, it's like a 3D puzzle, with many different types of puzzles. You never know if you'll get something like a cross word, fill in the words, sudoko, or many, many other unique to game type puzzles. You are not truly 'locked in' in most rooms, it's just on your honor. If it's your first escape game, definitely let your game master know since there are hints and nudges the game master can provide to help with your first room. It's also good to start with the easiest escape room (or highest escape rate room). Great experience.

YAS. YAS. YAS. Komnata Quest Manhattan, if I was to name one company as my all time favorite escape rooms, there is no question Komnata Quest is at the very top of my list. Their attention to detail, mixed with immersive and lively atmospheres makes for the best Escape Rooms any fanatic could wish for. But for an actual review I will now review each room the Manhattan location has, in a non ranked fashion.

    - Sherlocked(Personal Favorite): Done in 58 mins. This is easily the ultimate escape room, with set design that sustains, but does not overpower, and a linear timeline of puzzles like no other. For the escape room and Sherlock enthusiasts, I recommend this room in every way possible. And no, it is not like all other Sherlock rooms.
    - Cursed: Done in 56 mins. I am not lying when I say this, Cursed is the scariest out of all the rooms I have ever done, and that number goes above one hundred. But in all it’s terror, it still maintains simple, yet ingenious physical challenges, and has a story like I’ve never seen before. I do give a hard warning for this room as it could be seen as upsetting(as it flirts with death) yet the longer you are in there, the more and more familiar you become to the space, even if there is a jump scare here or there.
    - Haikana: Done in 59 mins. Okay, if you want Mystical, if you want Creepy, if you want whatever the heck fantastical kinda stuff Haikana is, you got it. Haikana is the only room that, categorized with mazes, is actually able to pull off the hard aspect of: a) contorting reality and b) allowing you to lose a sense of time and placement. Haikana does such a beautiful and mysterious way of setting up a story line, and by bringing in puzzles in the faintest, yet most challenging of ways. And even if it is considered to be a beginner level, you will get lost in the haunting atmosphere of the Haikana Maze.
    - Vault: Done in 44 mins. Having loved all the fallout versions the game has set out, the Vault is one of few escape rooms that, when based off a video game, can really immerse you in that setting. The Vault was able to provide a sense of a very clear outline of tasks, while both lightly hinting towards Fallout references, and straight up pulling in animatronics. It really does do a beautiful job of bringing in the idea of levels that a video game has, and therefore its set is able to perfectly compliment the video-game style.

Overall, Komnata Quest Manhattan, is one of the few locations that can bring in several different themes, while still creating much more than decent rooms. Thank you guys, genuinely, and I implore everyone to try each and everyone of these games. As they are not only safe and welcoming, but are the best example for a Emma building exercise.

Great experience! We enjoyed playing the online game . I enjoyed these puzzles because they were innovative and challenging. The interface worked well and we were able to easily join two other players in different locations. I highly recommend it

This escape room is absolutely amazing. My group went in for one together and the game master, D, was one of the kindest and most amazing game masters ever. We felt safe with sanitation and was easily able to be helped if the game messed up or if we were a little bit behind. We beat our first game of Jurassic Escape in 59:40, by the skin of our teeth and are going back to do Cartman's Escape tomorrow! I would recommend this place to anybody trying to do something fun in Manhattan but wanting to stay clean with no concerns.

My 10 year old child had a birthday party there. She said it was the best birthday party she ever had! The staff was all really nice. Great for big events or just for something to do on a weekend. I would totally recommend going there.

Excellent virtual team building activity during the pandemic! Our team opted for a virtual team building experience by playing Escape the Room online. It was a great experience and the staff was very accommodating. Everyone had a blast solving the challenging yet fun puzzles. This is great for team building - especially if your team is no longer physically together. This works for teams of any size!

Oh my goodness.. CHILLS. We finished the Room 228: Do Not Disturb room virtually as a team building event with my company during quarantine. The puzzles all translated well over video - there were no issues at all. The actor was engaging and we all got involved and felt a sense of urgency to help him escape! Our team has been talking about how fun and creepy it was this whole week.

I'd also like to praise BrainXcape on the quick response times. I sent emails at different times of the day and got responses back within 5 minutes each time. It made the process smooth and easy.

Thanks for the highlight of my year! Hopefully I won't have too many more sleepless nights after that creepy room

This is an excellent and fun escape room! The puzzles were intricate and challenging. The entire room was very well done and made for an excited hour and a half. I highly recommend to anyone who enjoys this kind of challenge!

We did The Penitentiary which is the hardest of their three rooms and even though we didn’t quite make it out we still had a blast while doing it! I’m very excited to come back and try their other two rooms!

I had my expectations set low. Even if I had them a little bigger, this place did not disappoint. There's not much to say that hasn't been said by other reviews but I would agree strongly that the price for adults should be lower. It is centered around the kids so the cost is reasonable for them. For me to pay $28 each for my wife and I was a little odd since we didn't have the same experience as our kids. The kids, by the way, absolutely loved this. Definitely worth the hour and a half it takes to get through the whole thing.

Fun experience! Though I would say it was on the easier side for our group - got out with more than 20 minutes to spare. I wish it were harder. But we still had fun!
