Every time I travel to SF I find time to visit the Exploratorium because there is so much to do with my granddaughters and I could never finish exploring the hands-on science exhibits that enthrall all of us. Good for ALL ages. I cannot say enough about the learning that happens while you spend the day. There is even a cafe. Easily take a day or two or .... Great place! Nearly all of his honors, including Oscars, were on exhibit, and a two-story museum showed off his early years. There is lots to see and I understand the price because what they have takes a lot of upkeep. While the building is handicap accessible, the rain forest is not. The trip on then cable car was amazing and very affordable. The unexpectedly broad collection is fun, interesting and very well-curated. - goldenparadoxPasadena, MD587 contributionsI was in the area visiting the Botanical Gardens, Japanese Tea Garden and the Academy of the Sciences across the street and came to de Young's to get a bite to eat and use the restroom. I ate outside by the sculpture garden which you can enjoy without an admission ticket. Also, taking the elevator up to the observation deck is FREE, which I highly recommend, especially if it's a clear day. The views are spectacular and the fact that it's free is a bonus! You can also use the restrooms as well (without an admission ticket). SFPlayhouse consistently has beautifully staged and well-cast productions of unmatched energy, intelligence and empathy. And the small (200 seat) auditorium makes for impact and intimacy. It was small compared to others we had been to. I would have been disappointed if we paid full price; however, we had entrance on a pass.
