What? You have never been to the Exploratorium? Or "Explo" as the cool kids call it? It's budget-friendly and has something to offer, even those folks who think "what's that? Is it 'science' or some such?" Yeah, even you! Make your way there on public transit or your two feet. Right there on the bay with the bridge in the background? Come on! Do it. No, really. Do it!

Good museum for youngsters in beautiful Buena Vistas Park. Engaging activities scattered about in wide open spaces. Staff seemed available but not as engaging as I would have expected. Nonetheless, our three year old granddaughter seemed to enjoy her visit, especially the unique sand table and dancing circles.

Our kids had so much fun. They did a hands on workshop and the staff was so friendly. For a free museum we were very impressed.

We held our son's 4th birthday party at the de Young and it was fantastic. We had a private docent tour of the amazing African mask exhibit. Afterwards, our group gathered in a private art room on upper floor with one of resident children's artists. Materials were provided for each child to make their own mask. We had a mask cake made and the invitations were themed as well.

Each of our guests commented on what a great time they had and how much they appreciated the warm welcome the children received.

We also attended several weekend workshops for Art for Children and that was fantastic as well. They clearly value all their members, young or old.
