What travelers are saying
- publiussullaSeattle, WA316 contributionsWe had visited this place before but it was closed, a holiday most likely. The place is open the rest of the time and free to enter. We walked the walls which have incredible views of the bay and the Golden Gare Bridge is right over head. Not too crowded and we spent probably 30 to 40 mins checking out the exhibits which were quite interesting and scaling the stairs to get to the roof for the amazing sweeiping views! Highly recommended to check this place as I don't think folks know about it.Written January 26, 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Sachin KNew York City, NY6,533 contributionsThis lighthouse on Alcatraz Island can be spotted from a long distance. Close upfront it is impressive. Cannot go inside it but certainly worth looking at from up close.Written December 4, 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - misopiso88Seattle, WA24,077 contributionsIn February 1901, the SS City of Rio de Janeiro wrecked on the rocks, which prompted the Mile Rocks Lighthouse to be built. 128 of 209 aboard, lost their lives when the ship sank. You can catch a view off of Mile Rock Beach of the historical lighthouse provided there is not too much fog.Written March 6, 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
