If you're in the area (taking public transportation to the Presidio or doing the hop-on hop-off bus), then it's worth the 10 minute walk to see the Yoda fountain. The Lucas Films campus is very quiet and beautifully landscaped, so it's a nice walk. I used the app Citymapper to find it, and then also to find my way to the Presidio Visitor Center.

Apparently this fountain was loved and hated by many but always survived. Lotta Crabtree gifted it in 1875 to the city of San Francisco and it served as a significant meeting point in the aftermath of the 1906 San Francisco earthquake and fire.

It is in the middle of very busy Ghirardelli Square and was created in 1968 by Ruth Asawa. Good spot to take a nice photo. The fountain was named after the lady who served as the model for the mermaid.

My wife and I stopped at this on the way to the ferry building and enjoyed it but can also see why a lot of the locals do not. For a beautiful city this is not real attractive. It is kind of cool to see when it is operational but it is also kind of an eyesore. Overall, this space could have been used for something that adds to San Francisco instead of something that detracts.

I walk by this fountain every week and often stop to look at all the images around it. It's surrounded by a big hotel and the Apple Store and since Apple built an outdoor seating area behind the fountain, it's a very inviting area, although often in shadows and this a bit cold. Come and look.

Stopped here after walking around Golden Gate Park. Weather was great. Loved this spot to chill and rest

Unfortunately I do not recommend that you go out of your way to see this drab fountain. And it is in a drab area. The only positive is that there is a new skate park area near here than has become very popular and has brought some life to this rather dead part of town. This is not a pretty fountain.
