When I think about Napa, Jax isn’t the first vineyard that comes to mind but I can tell you that the Tasting Room downtown is a fantastic way to establish the brand.

Location is fantastic - just a few minutes from Oracle Park and down the block from and so many businesses HQ’d nearby (think Airbnb, Pinterest and many more). Seems like there’s a good blend of locals and visitors - not uncommon to see folks with suitcases who want to grab a drink before heading over to the airport or train station.

Thursday happy hour in Feb had a great ambiance. There’s a blend of couches, barrels with stools and large tables which contributes to the social feel, integrating all groups. I can imagine that it may become too chaotic before Giants home games.

There is no table service at Jax but it works. The group of girls that was working on the afternoon we visited was so warm and accommodating...Jax’s strength, in my opinion.

There isn’t much of a food selection (which is to be expected of a ‘tasting room’) - charcuterie boards are standard fare for this environment and they seem to turn a fair number of these. They’re just ok...lots of the selections, like the prosciutto, are store bought but overall it’s a good way to get some nutrients when sampling the wines...which is why we’re here, after all ...and the wines did not disappoint. We enjoyed a few bottles of the rosè (pictured) which was very good.

    Would love to return.

Interesting location in the lobby of the Westin; the server was friendly but scrimping on wine. I don't know why wineries do this - it ensures people will dislike their product in the future. Forever. Anyway, Chateau Montelena wines are quality Napa wines, but (imho) nothing to write home about. Way overpriced.

Lovely little wine bar. Wonderful intimate ambience. Fantastic food and service. Best ham and cheese french roll I've had in ages. Food was ample and delicious and wines were unusual and all excellent.

Awesome place to unwind from work or to get away from the crowds in Union Square. The staff are all very friendly and welcoming. You will instantly feel like a regular. The cocktails are all amazing and you can even have a picture of yourself printed on some of them.

Bar itself is comfortable and every bar seat has a purse hook as well as a power outlet with USB slots making it the perfect spot to sip a drink while recharging your phone or if you need to get some work done. All the regulars are super friendly people that mostly live in the neighborhood.

They have a great selection of beers and liquor. Wine they have is great and all the seats in the place are comfy. They do have a couple of tvs perfectly placed so you can watch the game from any spot in the bar.

Overall highly recommend everything about this place.

We stayed at an Airbnb right up the street from here and went on the front and back ends of the trip while we killed time until check in and after we checked out before going to the airport. The space is beautiful and has high ceiling and arched large windows and the huge wall of wine bottles is impressive. The gentleman working there the Friday afternoon that we went was incredibly friendly and descriptive with the wine choices and the clever written descriptions amused us. The wine we had was great (the Sauvignon Blanc and one of the chilled red specials) and we also had beers there on our other visit. Lovely little corner wine bar/shop and the small plates looked fresh and great as well - would recommend if you are in the neighborhood.

This is a gem hidden at the southern end of third street, in the Bayview. Wine is made in the house with grapes brought in from Sonoma County and its warmth spreads through the walls of the wine bar were glasses are served along with delicious Italian small plates.
Everyone in the store is a nice person and most likely a local.
