What travelers are saying
- Leslie JAltamonte Springs, FL356 contributionsThis museum so captured its' location. The quality and design was impressive in so small a town. Plan to spend one full day and part of the next if you want to see all five museums. We prioritized and did the Buffalo Bill section first. Neither of us were interested in firearms so we never saw that. There is a good cafeteria there so you don't have to leave for lunch . There is both indoor and outdoor dining. In the outdoor dining area is a playground for the kids to run off some steam. Behind that is Buffalo Bill's house. The museum shop was very well done as well.Written November 4, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- VirginiaDoctorladyWytheville, VA1,679 contributionsWhat a beautiful drive. We went in the afternoon and the weather was perfect when we left, however we raced a snow storm on the way back. So pay VERY close attention to the weather forecasts!!!! It was a perfect way to spend the afternoon. We stayed in Cooke City which was an ideal location for this drive. We drove up to the highest point and then turned around and headed back due to the upcoming weather.Written December 28, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - vawalkersvirgnia18 contributionsI had read this is one of the best ghost towns around. It did not dissapoint. It was super hot the day we went in Sept. They don't let you bring food/drinks in but they sell water at a very reasonable rate. The tickets were already cheap enough. It was a ton of fun to walk the wooden sidewalks, to poke our heads into the buildings and see what it was like "back then". I can't believe how simple everyone lived then. Each building has a plaque telling you about the structure and any historic events associated with it. Just a wonderful time .Written October 17, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Christopher P1 contributionLove this place. It's like walking into an archeological dig! So much history here to view. I'm always amazed at what cool things come out of the ground and when you come and see this you will be to. History from the beginning of America with the revolution all the way up to modern conflicts. The curator and his little dog are excellent hosts. And hey, you can't beat the price... If you're in Codu don't miss this!Written March 9, 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Rone StallonePowell, Wyoming6 contributionsTook our family and had a blast. The Wild West Spectacular was very entertaining and the food was outstanding. We were impressed with the quality of the show and the talent. The actors took extra time after the show to spend time with our kids and make them feel appreciated. Great night in Cody learning about Buffalo Bill Cody.Written October 2, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Patric DSandbach, UK1,120 contributionsI'm not sure that this has any real links to Buffalo Bill, but it's quite interesting to visit.
Also not convinced that it is quite the engineering marvel thay wish to make out, but the video gives good insight into the building process and the problems encountered.

We really enjoyed the experience and it was entertaining from start to finish apart from the religious stuff at the start of the evening. I had read about this prior to our visit so I knew what to expect and fortunately it didn't last too long.
We also thought the person ( comedian?) who was involved was very unfunny and not necessary. However, we enjoyed it overall especially seeing the young riders.
The venue has easy parking and all the facilities you would expect and it's amazing to think that they draw such large audiences every night.
We just bought tickets on arrival at the ground and you can choose where to sit.
Definitely something to see if you are in Cody while the rodeo is running.Written October 3, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. We were there to throw axes. We had a blast. The collection here covers the great variety of indigenous peoples that inhabited (and continue to inhabit) the great plains of the North American continent. The collection is extensive and diverse, very thoughtfully curated, and beautifully and accurately presented. You will learn more than in all your American history classes, and very much enjoy the process in doing so. This is Cody's (and all of Wyoming's) number one must stop.Written December 29, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - MikeJennyQOnalaska, WI970 contributionsRange and open space that makes you forget the crowds and volume of people in the cities. One of those places you make sure to not get behind on your gas gauge. no a lot of traffic unless bunched up behind a slow vehicle in curvesWritten January 20, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - montanapescadoAlbuquerque, NM1,592 contributionsUnlike most major natural history museums, this one is very focused on the life that inhabits this part of the country. That said, everything is exceptionally well presented and you actually get to go through altitude driven climatological zones as you ascend or descend the ramp that forms much of the path through the exilhibits. Even with the narrow focus, this is a five star visit because of the beauty and perfection of how it is presented.Written December 29, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
