Chihuly Garden and Glass Seattle 7.6 mi away
#1 of 81 Museums in Seattle
Chihuly's work is awesome in the truest sense of the word--the huge, colorful pieces throughout the museum are just amazing and so different than what you see in most museums.
There are few art museums or exhibitions that I would consider to be truly stunning, but Chihuly Garden and Glass has the power to stop visitors in their tracks.

Some museums are the same, essentially, in any city-- the same historical trajectory of art is featured, or the same principles of natural history and science-- but this is a decidedly local museum.
Also there are two other smaller museums about boats outside and worth walking around after exploring MOHAI.

While viewing the Needle, Garden, museums etc, make your way outside the area and visit the Gates Foundation Visitor Centre.
This was the highlight of our trip to Seattle after visiting Pike place, the Space Needle and Art Museums.
The Museum of Flight Seattle 8.1 mi away

There is obviously a ton of aviation history (and much of it is unique if you visit a lot of aviation museums) but there are also some elements of local, state, national, and international history to see.
I've been to both Smithsonian museums of flight in Washington D.C. and Dulles Airport, but they pale in comparison to the scale, curated artifacts, information, and awesomeness of the Boeing Museum of Flight.

While I enjoy conventional blockbuster art museums like the Met in New York and the Philadelphia Art Museum, that have the usual mix of Roman, Egyptian, Old Masters, etc., it is refreshing to find museums like the...
I have limited tolerance for art museums, which usually just leave me with sore feet after an hour or so; but this one has a wide variety of art of different kinds, from different places and cultures.
