- jehenson81Washington DC, DC22,085 contributionsSince the pandemic started, I haven’t been going out a lot, but as a belated birthday gift for a friend of mine, we decided to hit a couple of wineries and grab lunch together. Mediterranean Cellars was the first of two wineries we visited. They have not resumed tastings yet, but had a variety of flights to pick from. My friend and I each selected different flights and made up our own tasting. The three wines came in each flight and were in plastic cups. They also gave you a glass to pour each into so you had the full experience. In essence, we poured half of each wine in the glass and gave the plastic cup to each other. The wines were very nice. The champagne was the big surprise, very nice, not too dry with a clean finish. It was a really nice visit.Written May 7, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- EFW2014Woolwich, ME1,017 contributionsAwesome brewery! We’ve been in a couple times to try the new seasonal offerings.
The PB s’mores caramel macchiato is off the chain! The orange vanilla is wicked good as well.
It’s a bit pricey but worth it. 8 16oz cans was $30. It’s more cost effective to buy and reuse growlers.Written June 19, 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC. - Reslysten54Vienna, VA1,709 contributionsFor a lover of full-bodied reds, Virginia wineries often come up short. But here I found several noteworthy wines. The rich, dark-fruit sample of the Merlot took first prize in my view. However, bottle prices are high.
The large tasting room is situated in an attractive area with view of a dam. There is ample seating also outside.
The service was delightful. I appreciated that a real wine glass was provided for the tasting.Written December 8, 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC. - TravelerTPNorthern Virginia, VA971 contributionsThere are a lot of wineries with rolling hills and vineyards to overlook. This is not one of them. It is very close to the awesome Old Bust Head brewery, the small, but interesting Cold War Museum and a small cafe. The names of the wines all point toward the history of the area, in a fun way. I don’t think many of the wines are their own, and when we visited, there were no tastings because of COVID, but the ones I tried were very good.Written December 27, 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- Pat MBaltimore, MD267 contributionsWe had flights of three award winning red wines for $25. That is a bit higher than most wineries charge, but the wines were excellent. The staff were very pleasant on this chilly, windy April afternoon. The weather made us stay indoors. The old farmhouse is quaint. I am sure the outside will be attractive when the construction is finished. The proximity to Route 29 makes it an easy stop if one is headed from C’ville to DC or vice versa.Written April 3, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- COTraveller33Silver Spring, MD3,009 contributionsCool brewery. Wish we could have enjoyed - but thanks to the COVID-19 lockdown we couldn't stay - and we had to get home well.
Super cool set up, and very friendly and helpful staff.
I sampled 2 of the 3 beers, and picked up 6 crowlers (2 of each) to go.
Can't wait to enjoy!Written July 6, 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC. - Dinah YWashington DC, DC2,015 contributionsIt has been several years since I visited Marterella. It is better than I remember. The wines are pretty good. Cute winery. Personal people. This can be a fun place to visit. And they have adorable dogs.Written June 27, 2015This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
