It is breathtaking to catch sight of a fish jumping out of the Roanoke River during a leisurely stroll along the greenway path, or to come upon a grove of wildflowers or flowering trees.

The whole Mill Mountain is a place for a complete day of picnics, zoo, (small but intimate), flower garden paths, hiking, playground, educational nature center and great picture spots.

It was a very pretty place for a couple of hours on the water - we saw deer in woods from the water and enjoyed exploring the cove.
Clear, blue water........a welcome sight for folks who are seeking the beauties of nature!

there are lots of flowers and a kiddie park made sorta like a pirate peter pan thing as best I remember.
Of special note, is the free Roanoke Symphony’s performances there.

The Explore Park had so much to offer, but we thoroughly enjoyed the visitor center and exhibits and seeing the historic buildings.
We did the Treetop Adventure Course and loved it!
