The last time I visited here there was no Distillery, Brewery, Irish Pub nor Green Ribbon restaurant. What a wonderful surprise! The grounds are still spectacular, but now they have more to experience and a lot more parking. We visited on a Friday afternoon and chose to sample a couple flights of beer in the Irish Pub. There were many choices to pick from and plenty of tables to relax at as we enjoyed our picks. The pub is well decorated with old signs on the walls, banners hanging from the rafters, a long bar, lots of big comfy leather couches and chairs. The also have several bathrooms available which were clean and spacious. They even have a dart board and a long table shuffle board that we took pleasure in partaking. Unfortunately, you need to bring your own darts if you what to play 301 or Cricket, as they don't have a pub set. We chose to have a late lunch here at the Green Ribbon restaurant. The food was ready quick and was delicious. Abundant servings at a reasonable price. We had a blast here and highly recommend a visit. The Old House appeared to be closed as was the distillery. The distillery is a separate building between Old House and Brewery and is only opened on weekends. We walked over there and noted that the distillery has a WWII museum and restaurant attached. We will visit again to check out the distillery. They have a lot of space to sprawl out with picnic tables and chairs available.

Wonderful place. The tour guide and hostess made us feel like we were home with friends and family. I don't drink alcohol regularly and generally hate the taste but the smoothness of the ones I tired convinced me to buy three bottles ... lol. The tour was great. Our guide David kept us laughing and was very informative. While in the gift shop, we turn around and there was the owner Chuck(who appears in the show Moonshiners) ... wheeling some cases from the back to the gift shop. He stood and talked to me and my son for a good 10 minutes or so. If we travel back up to Virginia again ... we will definitely be back.

Pastel Paintings by Internationally Known Local Artist Elisabeth Piatt Currently on Display at the Culpeper Museum –by Bonnie Dixon

When you enter the Culpeper Museum you may be expecting to see historical exhibits about Culpeper history and walk past the display of six landscapes by featured local artist Elisabeth Piatt. They are hung on an interior wall along a corridor opposite doors leading outside to the railroad platform. Don’t pass up the opportunity to spend time absorbing the experience they offer.
I stood across the corridor, with my back against the outside door, marveling at the depth and subtlety depicted in these works which portray aspects of the local landscape through different seasons. At first, I experienced some annoyance they were not given a more prominent space. However, as I took in their depth and scenery this ceased to matter. Led by this artist's loving hand, each painting invited me in for a long walk deep into a seasonal scene. The softness and subtlety of the artist's strokes compressed the experience of time spent breathing fresh air and distance traveled. This magic happens without looking through a window or actually being on site making the word “landscape” feel like Earth beneath your feet. Don’t miss it.
Also take note of the dramatic panels at the entrance to the Museum by local Madison artist Trish Crowe and a famous quote by Walt Whitman.

A historic national cemetery established in 1866 that still conducts burials for veterans and their spouses to this day.

We visited with 2 young kids for a tasting. The wines were great, and we tasted about 15 wines and a cider - you can choose the wines you want to taste or taste them all! The wines are better than most of the ones from the area, especially the whites. The area is beautiful- there are games for kids, and lots of places to sit outside (and inside). The parents of the winery owner served us and it’s clear this is a family business and they’re equally passionate about the winery. Would definitely return on a future trip to the area!

Several good IPA's and a limited food menu. I did like the peanuts that they had available for help yourself. My buddy liked the lager, but I thought it tasted too much like Bud Light.....nice staff--recommend, for sure.

My coworkers and I were in town for an event and stumbled upon Far Gohn. What a great find! Even though they were busy, the staff was friendly and very helpful. The whole place had a casual welcoming feel, and even though there was live music, we could carry on a conversation. We sampled quite a few different brews, and didn't find a stinker in the bunch. Then there was the pizza. Even if you don't like beer, the pizza is reason enough to check out Far Gohn. The crust is thin and perfectly executed. The sauce and toppings are bright and fresh. I mean, these pizzas are so good, they'll bring a tear to your eye. It's only been 24 hours, and I'm trying to figure out how to make it back to Culpeper.

There is something for everybody at this mall. Plan on spending at least two hours while you are treasure hunting, It is clean, well-organized, with a friendly staff, and has something for all ages and interests. There is a separate train room, where kids can watch toy trains, quilts galore, glassware, pottery, linens, architectural salvage, primitives and so much more. Definitely worth a stop. It is a lot larger than it looks, with over 200 vendors.

This is a small building with plenty of history. Our guide was excellent, really outstanding. He is a reenactor and was extremely knowledgeable about Civil War history. He showed us unusual items and explained how terms we use in our current lives date back to these items. His enthusiasm, graciousness and knowledge are commendable. Great tour!

Even if there was an admission fee, it would be well worth it. They have a diverse movie selection, all movies are introduced by the archivist that selected it for that showing, and the theater takes you back to another era.

Worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness. This is a traditional Episcopal Church with beautiful stained glass windows, and a rich decor. The music is very uplifting and chosen carefully to enhance the message. The peace and beauty are very welcoming and calming. The Church ritual and history welcome all comers and the Priest, Father Ben Shelton is very dynamic and preaches outstanding sermons. The Church members are very welcoming. This Church is very active working to help others in the community. The Church members are from all walks of life and lend their wide experience and skills to help others.

Great place to spend an hour, or two, looking at goodies you may want or need!! Well organized, very clean and a friendly staff. Most of the items we looked at had reasonable prices on them. We highly recommend stopping in for a visit if you are in the area.
