What travelers are saying
- Odyssey234045Gainesville, VA76 contributionsLovely area to relax. Does tend to get a little crowded, but that is expected at any beach in the summer. Ponies are usually visible at some point during the day and lots of different kinds of birdsWritten August 15, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Joann SAlabama8 contributionsThe museum was full of interesting information and items relating to the history of the town. Seeing Misty and Stormy was high on the list. The staff were very friendly and helpful.Written August 25, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Sarah B9 contributionsRented a tandem and a tag-along for my husband and our two kids (ages 4 and 7). We had a great time biking around Assateague.Written September 3, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- urbanguyRichmond, VA5,008 contributionsA fishing/crabbing pier (no license required). A very large playground (great looking equipment). A ramp for kayaks and canoes. Tennis courts. Covered picnic tables. And, more.
A very nice park.Written July 22, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. I appreciate people maintaining items to preserve the past for people to see how it was back in the day. Go see it! Would like to have gone inside.Written August 25, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- vhash77North Wilkesboro, NC1,092 contributionsThis is a beautiful National Park. We went during off season, the lighthouse was closed, yet it was still beautiful to walk out to see it. We also drove through the park and was able to see some ponies at a distance, along with a variety of birds. It was a beautiful windy day but worth driving through for scenery. Both visitor centers were closed the day of our visit.Written February 29, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Joann SAlabama8 contributionsLoved this library! The architecture, the staircase, just a pretty building. The employees were great to chat with, I could have stayed longer.Written August 26, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Hiner1Eagleville, PA186 contributionsWe walked up here while waiting for the cruise we booked. So glad we did!!
The stories of several who perished were heartbreaking but interesting at the same time. Not only were we able to go to it but we also drove by on our cruise.
Definitely worth a trip!!Written August 23, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. I found the parking lot to be a little difficult to find and, for that reason, we parked nearby on the street.
It doesn't take too long to stroll this park. Nice water views. Big "LOVE" chairs. Some Chincoteague "history" is presented there.Written July 21, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. I did have some concerns about the attention some of the lifeguards were paying to the water. There seemed to be a lot of chatting with other lifeguards passing by, making jokes over the radio and even eating while in the chair. We’ve visited a lot of water parks and even public pools and I’ve never seen lifeguards do anything while on duty except watch the water. I know the water isn’t that deep and by and large parents are with their kids, but an accident could happen in the blink of an eye and I’d hate for a kid to be hurt in this park bc the lifeguards are distracted.Written August 3, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - the anonymous curator46 contributionsThe Chamber of Commerce was very helpful in planning my trip to Chincoteague. They explained the operations of both the Virginia and Maryland sides of Asseoteague Island and recommended hotels that fit my particular needs (traveling off season with a pet). If you have questions planning your trip, call the Chamber of Commerce first.Written March 3, 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
