- Departure_ASAP <3 travel!Lititz, PA39 contributionsThis is a very nice falls. It was a lovely hike. More water in the spring as the snow melts. - Katie WraggeVictoria, MN51 contributionsBeautiful path! Rent bikes, walk or run, it’s nice and flat with beautiful scenery. - Grover RPensacola, FL22,712 contributionsThis is an incredible hike anytime but anyone who has done things in nature like hikes knows the weather can seriously alter an experience. For us, we could not have had a better day which made this hike the highlight of our New England trip. At 4,395 feet, this is the Vermont highpoint and when the weather is perfect as it was for our hike you can see the highpoint of New York at Mount Marcy and New Hampshire at Mount Washington. You are also treated to incredible views of the Stowe valley and Burlington and Lake Champlain. You can even see the Camel's Hump in the Green Mountains.
We happened to do the Nose to Chin Trail (the mountain's ridge looks like a sleeping man's profile with a peak for the nose and Mount Mansfield as the chin) along the ridge at the top which is the easiest way to get there. You can go from either side at the bottom, but it is long and vertical and we had afternoon hiking planned for New Hampshire. You start in a forest but as you reach the ridge it is rocky especially as you climb the final part to the peak. This rocky part has few trees so you can see forever in every direction. I am sure this is a great place to visit anytime, but when you have the weather we did, it is simply amazing and incredible, trip highlight. One of the best hikes of the trip and we visited Acadia National Park in Maine and the Flume Gorge in New Hampshire.Written March 10, 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. It was very pretty in the fall and a little crowded! Worth it though!Written February 18, 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Melinda AExeter, NH79 contributionsThe outdoor center was a great activity while we stayed at the Trapp Family Lodge. We snowshoed up to the chapel. Use of the center is included in your resort fee which is nice. We were one pair of snowshoes short in our group and had to rent them. It was $30 to rent one pair. I thought this was a bit expensive. Thankfully the rest of us had snow shoes. The trails are pretty steep, but we took our time as we are not super athletic and made it to the chapel, the shortest trail.
They have a cool yurt with a fireplace where you can put in your snowshoes. There are beautiful views of the mountains and well groomed trails.Written February 26, 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. First, the good: This place has tons of trails and a gondola. Highlights: taking the gondola up to the top of the Mount Mansfield and basically taking 6-7 blue trails down. I was so sore, but it was greatness. Also, stopping at the trick park off of Toll Road / Cutover Green and watching dudes do back flips and 720s. Super awesome. Finally - there's a fantastic green trail behind the Sunrise Lift called "Toll Road" that all new visitors should do right when they get to the resort.
Here's my not-so-good: The resort is so spread out you don't really know where to go first and it's so crowded with literally no guides that you have no clue where to go. One Epic Cashier lady told me to start over at "Spruce" which is their newer skiing area (seemed newer at least). Took my family 25 minutes to get over there and they were winded and pissed at me for the long trek on day one. I would have recommended starting on the Toll House Green on the main mountain first, then moving to the super high gondola ride, then doing Spruce runs on the last day. The other downside - I never got that feeling of being at a ski resort, crowded by awesome people drinking beers, with everyone having a jolly good time. Maybe I missed where this was all happening, but if you've been to the Foggy Goggle at Seven Springs, there was nothing like that at Stowe.
About the town of Stowe: There's no real grocery store or fast food options. Everything is niche and quaint. The markets are like convenience stores with wine and close at 7PM, so no late night ice cream for you! Also, the restaurants fill quickly, since there are so few, and you should book your reservations at least 24-48 hours in advance. We tried Piecasso and the place was a zoo.
One final thought: We passed Killington an hour before Stowe coming up from Maryland. Why I didn't just book Killington instead I don't know, but I think we'd opt for Killington next trip. It looked awesome and closer to MD. My kids grew up skiing Wisp (Maryland) and 7 Springs (PA), and they said both of those are more fun for them than Stowe.Written February 11, 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - 14jkcPittsburgh, PA397 contributionsGreat beers and especially love the ones brewed for a purpose (e.g., Just Say Gay). Staff was really helpful in making selections and explaining the brewery's process. Next trip we will spend more time here so we can try more beers.Written October 20, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - SMGKerrville, TX46 contributionsThis was recommended by a local park ranger and the view did not disappoint. For 2 people plus car it was $51. It is a rough and steep road about 4.5 miles so was glad we had all wheel drive suv. Once you are at the top there are several trails however we didn’t know to get a trail map (and one was not provided when you checked in) so stuck to the walking the road to the top. Thunderstorms were predicted and we found that once you see them in the distance, they move in quickly. It was worth the cost and the drive!Written June 8, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.

- JFWhiteMoncton, Canada8,297 contributionsVery cute bridge in the Stowe region. Seems old and they kepted it that way. - Katie WraggeVictoria, MN51 contributionsWe started at the Pinnacle Meadow parking area, this takes one mile off the hike, but trust me there is plenty of hiking you still accomplish. We went on a drizzly, cloudy day, and still enjoyed every bit of this hike. Incredible views at the top with a great mix of scenery throughout the hike. Challenging but doable, I would recommend hiking boots and maybe a walking stick. Lots of stairs and climbing.Written August 21, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
