What travelers are saying
- Theresa S3 contributionsMy son and I were killing time before I dropped him off at Norwich University to begin his sophomore year. In our experience, there is little to do in and around Northfield, Vermont.
We decided to skip the world’s biggest zipper and tallest filing cabinet and made our way to Morse Farm. We were greeted by one of the Morse Family women (I wish I got her name). She was very friendly and informative. She suggested a short walk to the maple grove. We got about half way before we met some mosquitos. It was wet and we were not dressed for a hike through the woods, so we turned around. But, we stopped in the “theatre” onsite to watch a 10-minute video about the maple syrup-making process. Burr Morse (the kind lady’s uncle) was hilarious and we learned a lot about how to make maple syrup.
We then tasted various “stages” of syrup (from light to dark—which you will learn about). We also bought some syrup (and maple pepper, which I can’t wait to try). They sold apparel and other gifts, as well as ice cream (cremees).
We spent about an hour there. It was the perfect choice for what we needed. I highly recommend.

- Owen SMontpelier, VT4 contributionsIt's a nice and easy walk to the base of the tower. The stairs inside are a little steeper than the walk up the hill, but they are still easy. Amazing view at the top of course. Fun Fact, the tower used to be used to scout for fires in the town back when the hill wasn't covered in trees. The tower is just up the hill from the State house so you can stop by if you are going to the State house.Written August 2, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Ethan AMontpelier, VT33 contributionsEven if you’re in town for only a few days be sure to catch Pride and Prejudice at Lost Nation Theatre. It’s a rollicking laugh out loud high jinks interpretation on a classic. - Arias55Hanoi, Vietnam228 contributionsA multi generational family outing. My husband is a huge fan of their gin so we decided to go check out the place while visiting family in NH. The service was impeccable, the wait staff was friendly, informative and dealt with all the special requests with a smile. We(the adults) sat on the patio and the kids played on the grass. We basically ordered everything on the menu and it was all delicious. We each ended up with a favorite, but pork bao buns were enjoyed by all.Written September 11, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Gregory WBethlehem, PA1 contributionSmall town vibe. Good food down town. The state museum was very informative. Toured State house on A Saterday for free. All staff were super nice. Town shuts down at 9 pm thought. It was good and bad.
