We are not horse people (all of the other people visiting were serious horse people - owning Morgan horses). The last time we were horse riding was 53 years ago.

But it was a fun morning. The new borns (foals I am told) were adorable, racing around the corral. The grown up horses were very pretty and had distinct personalities. Delightful setting.

Such a cozy brewing house! I’ve been experiencing such friendly individuals in my most recent trips and here’s another place. As an out of towner I tend to receive disconnect in a lot of establishments but not here! The staff was plenty welcoming and gave the best outdoor activity advice. For tasty and local beer selections Otter Creek is the right spot!

Spent an hour on their porch overlooking the pond. Nice selections in the flights of wine, contrasted well with the plate of local cheese and charcuterie.

What is it about a covered bridge that invites tourists? It’s not much more than a barn plopped over a river…and yet…and yet…it’s a charming holdover from a quaint past—a veritable symbol of old New England. We couldn’t resist driving through it a couple of times and stopping to take photos.

Drive through the country side checking out the foliage take Painter Rd to a fork (we did not identify the fork as a fork and drove by it--turned around when we realized mistake). The fork is Halpin Rd. Take Halpin Rd and turn onto Halpin Covered Bridge Road. We did not go over the bridge because of the sharp left turn to do so. Nice unpainted bridge in the countryside.

I love reclaimed theaters and cultural spaces and this one id=s a gem. Went for an evening-long dance performance and loved the space and the (likely volunteer?) staff. Very friendly, and a couple of the ushers saw I was by myself and, while I had grabbed a seat near the stage (seating for this performance was all general admission) they suggested I sit front row balcony. "Best seat in the house!" They were right. And I knew they meant it as, once the performance started, they were all seated around me until they had to go back to work. Small gallery downstairs, where they all had a small bar. I knew the performers which is what drew me to Middlebury (I live a half-hour or so away), but the eperience will have me following the Theater's calendar so I can pick out more shows to return to enjoy there.

Drop-Inn is a rustic establishment consisting of the small brewery and one-room tap room; there is a small bar and several tables. Look around and check out the beer paraphernalia from around the world. Their beers are wonderful; excellent IPAs along with a sweet porter and my favorite, Heart of Lothian, a rich and malty Scottish ale. Many of the beers can be taken away or purchased in cans. A worthy trip if in the area, or on the way to the nearby Otter Creek Brewing. You can now get food next door from the Grapevine Grill.

We visited here a few years ago and went back to stock up on some more soap. Lots of choices of fragrances or no fragrance soap if needed.

I thoroughly enjoyed tasting the spirits at this distillery. The tasting was complimentary and the host was very kind. There were no sales pitches or pressure to buy. I thought the gin was outstanding and purchased a bottle of it as well as some of the coffee liquor. The vodka was fun too. They run a very nice business.

Don't plan your day around this museum. It's OK, with a lot of furniture. The exhibit of the old pictures was interesting. There was a neat picture of the steamship Ticonderoga. You can see the ship itself at the Shelburne museum in Shelburne VT.

We have visited the Gallery while attending a wedding in Middleburg. The Gallery is very large and had excellent paintings but unfortunately they were above our budget. It is a nice place to cool down in a summer hot day and enjoy art like in an exhibition.

Enjoyed a quick visit to this charming college museum a few days ago. We had to speed walk the entire thing because we arrived 10 minutes before closing, but we were still able to get a decent feel for the collection. Will revisit next month when we pick the kids up from camp.

The colored black and white exhibit was interesting and well presented in the space. The accompanying description of the inspiration and methodology added to the exhibit.

Not only does the Werner Tree Farm grow a large selection of trees, so you can cut your own, but when you step inside to pay, they have an antique train running for all to enjoy.
