As we were staying near Ludlow, I had put this on our schedule as a "check it out whenever time permits" item. We drove back after visiting some places to the north, and were passing this around 4 p.m. so we checked it out. This was in early October and the sun was just starting to go down. Though it was pre-dusk, it would be better to visit this site in full sunlight.

There are 3 separate falls (the creatively named upper, middle, and lower). You access them from the main highway via a side road that starts as paved but soon becomes (good) dirt/gravel. The total length is less than 2 miles. You first get to a wide spot / parking area from which you can access the middle and lower falls. A trail leads down a hill where you must choose which falls to visit.

The middle falls is impressive. It is probably the easiest one to access. The area from which you have the best view is a bit rocky, but navigable. It makes for nice photos.

The lower falls appeared accessible from a side trail that descended a bit more steeply. You can also see it from above (somewhat) without descending. It appeared smaller and less photogenic than the middle falls.

We then drove another 1/4 mile up the road (to its end) to check out the upper falls. There is a sharp short descent from the road to the top of the falls. It appeared to have a fairly large pool at the bottom and a flat dirt/sand area where some people had laid out a blanket for a picnic. The light was fading more so we skipped walking down the relatively gentle slope to check it out further.

If you are in the area and have time, this is a nice spot to visit. It is within 3 miles of Ludlow. I cannot comment on what the swimming is like, but I saw references to that online (during summers, I guess).

Great view and amazing Skiing and snowboarding. Loved it! Would like better food but maybe that's asking for too much from a ski resort?

Superbly maintained facility hosting a 3 day, 800 bike motorcycle rally. Employees were friendly, courteous and helpful. Service in the bar and restaurants was spot on. Food and drinks were well prepared and offered at resort prices.

Maintain a good pace and you will make it up and back. Views from the top of the fire tower are well worth the climb. Several hikers climb with dogs off leash, doesn’t bother us as we are dog people. Six miles round trip!

My family and I adore this museum. You can see and touch most of the antiques and displays, which are beautiful and well organized. You feel transported back to a simpler place and time. We love how this museum is run by locals who truly make you feel like you're part of their family! After spending an hour or two here, you feel that Ludlow is your hometown too. God bless the Black River Academy Museum and the people of Ludlow Vermont!

Beautiful gallery with all kinds of hand picked objects. You will sure find what you need. From a souvenir from Vermont, to any special gifts or special item for your home. The owners are super nice and will help you find what you need.

Enjoyed the quality and diversity of trail riding. Great with the expansion of the new top to bottom trails. Premium "Scott" bikes for rent ensure you have the right equipment for the mountain.

The soft-serve Maple ice cream is amazing. A fabulous place for gift shopping as what is more Vermont than maple sugar products. This place has the best choices at a great price.

This shop would be at home in ... Aspen? Nantucket? Sea Island? - but fortunately it's in Ludlow. The wine selections have enormous variety with selections from around the world and the cheeses comprise an exceptionally broad selection of Vermont's craft cheesemakers - cow, sheep and goat. Even better, the people at the Depot are knowledgeable and will point you in the right direction if you can describe what you're looking for. Other offerings include crackers (many gluten-free), Vermont craft beer and local food products, which could be pesto, maple syrup or jams. Something for every taste!
