What travelers are saying
- Chanin GRichmond, Virginia, USA260 contributionsWe enjoyed riding the Island Line Rail Trail from downtown Burlington to the bike ferry. It is possible to go further, but we felt we had seen plenty. Some of the woodsy section can be a little boring, but overall, the ride is really nice, and the payoff at the last stretch on the causeway is fabulously gorgeous! In August the entire trail was very busy even at 10:30am, but still very navigable.
Renting bikes for a family ride on the Island Line Rail Trail was a wonderful experience with Skirack in Burlington. From the phone call the day before the ride, there was an immediately noticeable friendliness and super helpfulness from the staff. Online reservations were easy. The plentiful staff was once again super helpful and friendly when we arrived the next morning. They quickly set up our bikes and even threw in some extra baskets to assist us with our gear! Even when I had to go immediately back into the store to have my chain re-installed, the staff did not complain and quickly set me out to ride again. We can't say enough good about our interactions with Skirack's bike rental service, and their prices were a savings over the other shop I priced.Written August 17, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. And the street performers really add to the scene.Written August 28, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - 3000caloriesBuffalo, NY1,658 contributionsIt’s obvious why this is rated so highly. What beautiful scenery with both the lake and the Adirondacks in the background and the nice boardwalk to walk on. A ton of good people watching and dog watching. Also plenty of swings to sit on and relax for kids and adults.Written August 28, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - 3000caloriesBuffalo, NY1,658 contributionsSuper convenient we paid and got right on. You can exit your car and enjoy the view. I don’t think a lot of passengers realize that. The views are really good.Written August 28, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Brian B14 contributionsA fascinating place to take small children, those around us were interacting with the exhibits and were probably learning facts without realizing it. A very well though out way to teach children through play and kids that were barely toddlers could enjoy being raised and lowered by pulleys.
As adults we learned from a whale skeleton that Lake Champlain was once connected to the ocean. Many live examples of native turtles and fish add to the experience.Written August 29, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Andrea NBoston, MA33 contributionsNot sure this place has any bad beers… such a great place to go! The bartenders are always so nice, the beer is delicious and the atmosphere is diverse depending on what’s going on.
They do have minimal snacks to offer - but deep city next door (connected) had other various options!

We also loved hiking and jumping from the rocks into the lake.

- 2kayakers2015Massena, NY15 contributionsMy husband and I attended an event at the Flynn, and found the venue to have great seating, friendly staff, and beautiful art deco details. We attended the Shen Yun performance, which billed itself in glowing, extraordinary terms. The orchestra and dancers were skilled, and costumes were colorful; however, the show is actually an ad promoting the Falun Gong religious movement. It was heavy-handed at times in its rejection of evolution and modern culture. Skits and dance routines were repetitive, and tickets were greatly overpriced for this event. We recommend the Flynn, but unfortunately, not this show.Written February 22, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - DutchLaceHolland, MI1,141 contributionsEasily found on the corner. Parking made easy due to business lot there. Once there, one has to stop and get a quick picture. Quoting someone else, "it's art". Reminded us of quirky little stops along route 66. Have fun and enjoy.Written September 18, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Lee LValhalla, NY2,153 contributionsStopped here on a nice October day to visit Ethan Allen's House. Got there right as they opened at 10 and took the first tour. We had a pretty big tour that grew as people showed up. The house survived for so long because someone lived in the home until the 1970's. Allen owned this home after the Revolution.
You get a quick walk thru the native village on the way to the house. We then stopped at the garden where our guide went over what had been planted there which were the crops that Allen would have planted on his farm. We took a walk thru the house it is only a couple of rooms as the guide told us about the life of Ethan Allen and showed us some exhibit's about how the farm would have operated.
After touring the house, we went back to the visitor's center and watched the movie and saw the exhibits in the center.
Just as a travel note the entrance to the road that leads to the house is not very well marked and comes up suddenly so slow down when you get close.Written November 5, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
