- Jim CHouston, TX155 contributionsWe stopped by this excellent and well-appointed visitor center to see if there was something new to discover beyond our original research. The lady behind the desk shared a wealth of information about things to do and places to eat. The best bit that we learned about from her was the sheep statues around town decorated by their respective commercial sponsors. We then walked around downtown one morning finding a number of the sheep and taking pictures, but barely scratched the surface (there are a lot of them all over town). It was a fun little excursion for my missus and me. San Angelo is a delightful and friendly place to visit and this is exemplified by their visitor center team. Looking forward to visiting again.Written October 15, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- LauraOmaha, NE12 contributionsBeautiful garden with lots of water lilies. A great place for quiet reflection. Not much information about the water Lillie’s.Written July 3, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Louis FAltus, OK999 contributionsHistoric fort with an expansive grounds you can walk around and check out. Seems like they are redoing some of the displays right now but still worth checking out the grounds.Written May 27, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Ken R54 contributionsThe self paced tour was interesting and enlightening. Furniture was of the period. The linoleum on the floor was the same style that I saw in my grandmother’s house back in the day. A definite visit for anyone who is interested in history.Written July 11, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Kat NAlbuquerque, NM38 contributionsOn a visit to San Angelo this November, I had a chance to see some of these historic murals around downtown. I would have missed them if the front desk agent at the newly renovated Econo Lodge San Angelo, Kim, had not suggested them to me. The first mural was just about a 5 to 10 minutes walk from the hotel. The other ones were located throughout downtown (again about 10 to 15 minutes walk away from the hotel) or a 5 minutes drive away. These murals are detailed and gives a sense of San Angelo's past from Fort Concho to Goodfellows Air Force Base. I travel a lot and rarely have I seen an array of murals detailing a city's history in this way. This is a true treasure. Again, this is a free sight to see.Written November 28, 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.

- AndieHouston, TX23 contributionsThe museum was close to Fort Concho and just minutes away from our hotel the Econo Lodge. I like how close everything is around the downtown area so it was easy to visit most of the sights in a day. The Museum was a nice one to see pottery work and local artists displays.Written December 7, 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Sarah G1 contributionWe took our 13 year old daughter and four of her friends as part of a birthday experience. They had a BLAST!! We did a novice-level room, and the kids needed some “nudges” and help from the adults in the group, but they also could solve enough on their own to stay engaged and feel proud. The owner is wonderful and truly wants everybody to have a great time! We loved our experience, and we will definitely be back!!Written November 19, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Rick BRound Rock, TX1,305 contributionsNice park. There are two sections, the South Shore where you check in along with the longhorn and bison herds and the majority of camping, then the north shore where the good stuff is at along with camping and the equestrian campgrounds. On the north shore are miles of trails which by the way start inside the Equestrian entrance at the bell's trailhead. Up here you will see tons of prickly pear cactus as far as the eye can see. Never saw so much in one place. It is also here that along the dinosaur trail you will reach Little Foot Draw. there are supposed to be roughly 165 trackways of the Permian Dimetrodon a reptile that lived 100 million years before the dinosaurs. Unfortunately, the day we did the hike was after a couple days of heavy rain so the draw was full of water and the tracks were not visible beneath the murky water. The Slick Rock area was also interesting. On the south shore where we camped are some nice camping areas that were well paced and quiet.. The sad thing about this park is that the lake is going dry. It was only 16% full when we visited. They just can't get enough rain in the area.Written June 2, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - DanEspy509 contributionsThis planetarium is a small one but it's a pretty good one with great seats. The planetarium shows different movie selections and astrological shows as well. Just keep an eye out for when the ASU student organizations show these shows and or movies. It's pretty neat & you can also bring outside food too to enjoy you.Written January 5, 2016This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Lynn MHouston, TX2,534 contributionsStopped for a beer here and ended up having several as we met so many fun people who also came in for a beer (or several).
Very fun indoor atmosphere with seating at the bar as well as along a window. It was easy to turn chairs around and talk with other people who enjoy beer.
There was a food truck outside, Rey Rays BBQ. Although we did it have food from it, from the looks of the plates we saw it looked delicious.
We walked to the nearby San Angelo Blues Festival at an outdoor venue, with some of our new friends, and enjoyed some great blues music from a variety of bands.Written May 23, 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. It was a nice surprise, but could had have more art.Written November 28, 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
