- Brendan SArlington, VA2,151 contributionsThe location of this memorial off a highway access road near office parks and a mall is initially puzzling. Then you realize it’s because it’s near the VA Hospital, and therefore quite a fitting location to honor Kyle, who was active in helping fellow veterans (and was killed by one he was trying to help). The Memorial itself focuses on veterans rather than Kyle’s prolific military exploits, although the statue certainly glorifies him. The Memorial is a touching reminder of his service and sacrifice and that of others like him.Written December 31, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Trek2218141803144 contributionsCool quickie stop, great photo op, plus checking out the nearby duck ponds on campus was sweet. The pagan in me wishes it was grass around the stones instead of inviting rocks, but clearly it is easier to maintain (no weed eaters)Written March 17, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Brendan SArlington, VA2,151 contributionsThe Ellen Noel Museum is currently being renovated, but it’s temporarily housed in the next door Presidential Archive Museum building, which is also being renovated.
The only significant exhibit is “Gastronomy,” a collection of 30 food-related quilts. This is a pretty light exhibit, but several of the quilts are quite good, and it’s a fun exhibit overall. There are some sculptures in the atrium, including an early Chihuly bowl. The Presidential Archive collection on display is very small - just a handful of paintings and campaign buttons and knickknacks. There is also a collection of annual White House Christmas ornaments on display in the atrium as I visited during the Christmas season. Also of note is the small house where GW Bush, Barbara and George Bush briefly lived in Odessa, which is located behind the Museum (it appeared to have been moved here from another location). While there isn’t a lot here and it only took 30 minutes to see everything, it’s free and I liked what I saw. There will presumably be a lot more when the renovations are finished.Written December 31, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. The jack rabbit statues were everywhere, and enjoyed taking pictures of all the different ones. There is also a replica of Stonehenge on the grounds of UTPB (University of Permian Basin) in Odessa. Check it out if you go there. Enjoyed walking in the downtown area (but as most of Texas it was hot; so pick a cooler day) all in all I would definitely return another day.Written August 28, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Lisa BTexas1,377 contributionsThis museum is small, but amazing! They have gorgeous oil paintings of the Presidents and First Ladies! They have a rare set of wood mosaic portraits of the presidents which is outstanding! The portraits alone are worth a visit.
Each president has a small collection of items from their time of service. It could be a campaign button, a coin, a bronze bust, etc. Each collection varies as it’s size is determined by donations given by others. [So if you have presidential memorabilia, this would be a great place to donate it.]
Each presidential collection also includes a First Lady doll clothed in a replica dress.
There is an amazing collection of presidential books in their library for research purposes.
I highly recommend this to all who enjoy presidential history.Written February 18, 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Anthony ROdessa, TX6 contributionsI saw Aladdin Jr. At the Permian Playhouse. The production that the Kaleidoscope Company put on was top notch. These kids did an outstanding job. They are doing Shrek Jr. and Mulan Jr. next year. If you want you to see a great group of talented kid, I suggest that you see both productions.Written June 24, 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Robin BPhoenix, AZ1,424 contributionsThis is a nice 19th century home with a somewhat interesting history. The home is filled with some nice antiques, but I don’t think many are original to the home. Larry was our docent, and he did a decent job of showing us around. It only took about 20 minutes and is worth a stop if you are in Odessa.Written February 16, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Marla B43 contributionsOlder mall. Clean. Everyone was nice. Even though we didn't have time to ice skate. The rink is a major plus. A nice mall for a short outing.Written June 19, 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.

Those buildings are where the smaller special shows are usually held such as the gun and knife show. Most of the dealers at these type of shows prefer only cash because there is something in the roof that keeps the wifi from working for many dealers. But they do have a cash ATM machine inside the building. But there are usually long lines at those ATMs. You will need to plan on going elsewhere for lunch or dinner, but they will stamp the back of your hand so you can get back into the shows. And yes, they do background checks if you are purchasing guns. And the law enforcement do mingle with the crowds. Guns are required to be unloaded and well tied down. We haven't been to a bigger event yet in the Coliseum itself, but a few are scheduled I believe.Written June 10, 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
