Great smallish park, tram does a circular route around park with friendly staff. Tram good way to initially see park and a way to get off where u want to. Good views multiple locations, Green Jay blind was especially rewarding. Kingfishers at overlook. Staff friendly

Been wanting to visit for a while so since we were in Harlingen for a few days, we drove out. A family member who lives in Harlingen was with us and she commented that the grounds didn't seem as well kept as when she had visited. The fall is better to see more butterflies. It was pretty hot the day we were there. VERY wonderful staff, though! If the road is open drive a short distance to the sanctuary bird park. Park staff feeds the birds at 1:30pm. The folks there are so kind!

When we started seeking out activities in the Mission area this place popped up as a "Must" place to visit. We had noticed they had a field guided tour to take people around to see the birds of the park. We decided why not go and find out what they had to offer. So at 8:30 am on a cool Sunday winter Texas morning we found ourselves standing outside waiting for our guide.

Roy walked out with a long lense on a tripod. We listened attently to every spiecies he identified. He even went and picked up a shuttle to drive us around the park. By time we were done with our two hour time with Roy we were interested in learning more about birding and visiting the other World Birding Centers in the RGV.

This place is amazing. It is definitely a birders paradise. We observed and were able to photograph Chacalacca's, Green Jays, Altimira Orioles, Great Kiskadees and Kingfishers. Of course many common birds we are familiar with were here wintering as well Blue Jays, Cardinals, Morning and White tipped Doves all make there home here in the winter.

WE have vistied this place multiple times this winter. It is a great place to walk and see what you can see. WE are grateful that a place like this is here to not only allow the migrating birds a place to stop as they fly south/north but it is a wonderful place for people to come and learn about what Birding is all about. This place kindled an interest in us that we did not know we had. WE are very happy to have made its acquaintance.

This area is close to the highway, but once you start walking/hiking/biking, you kind of forget about that. Well marked trails and plenty of foliage. A good place for exercising or just enjoying an evening stroll.

This little chapel sits right next to the Rio Grande River. It is small. Built cira 1865 it was moved to its current location long ago. It sits in a park that has many possibilities for having a picnic. That would be a recommendation of ours if we returned we would bring a picnic lunch. You cannot see the Rio Grande so the Mission will be your back drop to the picnic but still would be pleasant and peaceful.

The mission is probably only 500 square feet. It is a unique place. The wooden roof has some holes in it so it is in need of repair. It still is a working chapel as there were candles lit on our visit.

Apparently the city of Mission is named after this place. It would be an important stop if you were visiting this place for an extended period of time. It would not be a place we would recommend driving for miles to see as it is quite small and we spent only 30 minutes here and that was us reading all the markers and strolling the grounds. Take a picnic lunch and take a look for yourselves.

This park is nuzzled right up to the Rio Grande River. It is a large park. Plenty of picnic tables and grills to be had. We have also read and seen videos this a great biring destination. Our trip did not generate any birding views exceot for some American Coots. There is supposed to be parakeets observed there during the evening hours.

The park has been turned into a holding ground for illegal imigrants. There is a temporary fence running through middle of it with some large tents that are purported to house the imigrants. Security is observable as is border patrols presence.

For us we are glad we visited the park but found no true use for us. We observed a news crew, guard and a birder on our late morning visit. Large space of property being underutilized. It is understandable why Imigration would take over a good piece of the property.

We toured the perimeter of homesite, garden plants and learned more from the person who was in charge of renting out the home. The interior has been retained in its original condition as much as possible while adding AC/HT for the comfort of its guests. there is also another structure and large pation that can be rented out for parties, etc. I would consider it for rental for larger party of guests than our home can accomodate.

First, we have visited numerous craft beer breweries not only in Texas but around the world.
We have been here several times. Each time, we feel as if the beer on tap is not cold enough. We prefer ordering a flight in order to taste a variety of their craft beers. The decor is great, pays homage to our Vets. Limited seating inside, but great ample picnic style bench seating outside. They don't have a food menu. But no need, there are plenty of food trucks around the area where you'll find something great to go hand in hand with their craft beer. They have live music performers most evenings.
