The Permian Basin Petroleum Museum in Midland Texas is very interesting and has a very good broad display from how oil is created to how the oil boom started and developed into today’s industry.

The exhibits were well displayed and as Texas is well known for producing petroleum this museum had a huge selection of information on all aspects of the industry from a rock collection from around the world, the early equipment used to extract the oil, right through to the history of why fuel prices increased over the years. There are some interesting larger exhibits outside and it takes about two or more hours to appreciate the whole museum.

One thing to skip are the two movies zones, both are total rubbish propaganda movies by the current oil companies and totally full of misinformation on current trends in the oil industry.

But overall a great well-presented museum and worth visiting.

The guide is a terrific story teller, in every room he spinned the yarn retold the early life of the Bush family. Well kept our full attention. We learned some history that we were not aware of before.
It is a relative small house, yet he got our full attention, quite a skill to tell oral history of two of the American Presidents’ humble home while they lived in Midland, TX.

First time ever visiting this theater. Went to see Anastasia, which was very good. The theater was easy to maneuver and the seats were comfortable, nice size and easy to get out of. I walk with a cane and the theater seemed very handicap accessible. The staff was friendly and the lines moved quickly. Will go back for another production.

Perfect winter walk through the wildlife preserve. Well maintained. Loved the blinds to watch the water fowl.
The contrast of colors was amazing!

Great air museum located in a hangar at the Midland Airport. The museum is only open Saturdays beginning at 10am. There are various aircraft and memorabilia displayed both inside and outside the facility. The museum is free but donations were appreciated by the volunteers on staff. Highly recommended a stop by.

Sundays are free at the Planetarium, Children's Museum and Museum of the Southwest thanks to one of the local energy companies. They are all right there together and are open from 2-5 pm. It is a small Planetarium, but the one room of displays and information was fun and interesting. The theater was not open the day that we went. The Children's area was bright and fun. Also small, but packed with things for little people to do. The Turner House / Museum was full of wonderful and interesting artwork. It was quiet and had a good flow.

I was alone and really didn't like the long lonely road to the museum. Once there I seen the signs to watch out for snakes and it really didn't put me in the spirit to walk the path so I looked from a far. It was cool to see a part of natural history up close.

The Haley Library was founded by J. Evetts Haley, very well know Texas historian, author of the best book about a cowboy, candidate for Governor of Texas and the last of a era where the self sufficient American could quote Shakespeare and cook cornbread over an open campfire.

Since the early 1960's I have missed few productions at Midland Community theatre. How anybody expects more from a volunteeer theatre I will never know! Accolades are all that I have to offer from the staff to the actors to the backstage to the audiences. This is a grand place for a grand evening or afternoon. Clean, neat, professional and most of all friendly at all times. Unruly children with ignoring parents are sometimes a detriment but that is not the fault of the theatre. Best bang for the buck in town!! I give it 10 circles!!!!

This is a nice place to take kids or dogs for a little nature stroll. There are informative signs that tell you what you are looking at, and the center has activities throughout the year for kids.

Most weekends you can find the same vendors coming back. Unlike some farmers markets, this one is not limited to only farmers selling their produce.

Some things I have purchased from the Midland Downtown Farmer’s Market:
artisan breads, local honey, strawberry/cranberry jam, jalapeño salsa, chili mix, dill mix, hatch chili cheese bread, lemon/blueberry scones, pecan sandies, chocolate banana nut bread, organic face soap & lotion, memoirs, goat cheese, free-range eggs, watermelon, cantaloupe, pumpkin, collards, tomatoes, squash and other things I’m sure.

Get there before 10:30am to have the best variety because most vendors sell out their local favorites before then.
