I hate malls. I hate people. This place was cool. The folks were cool. NOT GHETTO like most malls and the people shopping were dressed nice. Good shopping experience. Remember, I absolutely hate malls and crowds, but this place made me happy. Recommend.

The house was interesting to visit to see an original adobe home, but the grounds were fantastic. The previous owners created a sanctuary for native plants, water features and paths to explore the grounds. It was fun to see the many bronze statues of native animal species interspersed throughout the grounds. The ponds attracted a variety of birds. Definitely worth a stop. I wish they had a small refreshment area where you could purchase a drink and snack to enjoy on the grounds.

Nice park in the middle of the city. Very good trails with excellent markings. It was not at all crowded, even on a weekend. A nice way to spend an hour or 2.

This is a small commercial gallery - not a museum - with western things on display, paintings, Mexican artifacts etc. Staff is friendly and it is worth a detour just to look and understand (and maybe buy something).

We've gotten a ton of use out of our membership over the last few years. It's not the biggest museum, but that makes it more manageable (and not exhausting!) with kids of any age. There's always an interesting art exhibit in the back halls and a kid-friendly traveling exhibit in the main space.

The permanent attractions, like the art studio and the giant wooden playground made it worth a visit 2-3 times a month. I recommend packing a lunch to eat outside on the picnic tables after your visit.

Overall: It's a fun, interactive, clean, family-friendly museum, probably best for babies up to middle-school age. But anyone can have fun and learn something! Oh, and their annual Night at the Brewseum (and post-event Sunday beer garden) is a great date night.

Enjoy the smells and sample their fresh locally grown citrus and honey. The orchard is on site and we were able to pick and taste fresh kumquats. A great experience that we highly recommend.

We have had season tickets for McAllen Community Concerts these past two years. Our seats have been in the right rear of the balcony. We attended a special concert this Spring, with seats near the center of the first floor and noticed that there was little difference in the excellent acoustics between first floor and rear balcony.

Paddle boating and bikes are available. You can fish or just walk the path around the lake. Saturdays feature the farmer's market. A nice touch in South Texas.

Several selections to choose from whether restaurant, club or hangout spot. 17th closed to traffic on weekends after 8pm. Little but rowdy at times. Use an Uber. Better for parking situation. Close to the Food Park if on a budget. Nice addition. To MFE.

while visiting the downtown area we stopped in to visit this small free local museum. donations are accepted. we spent about an hour and loved perusing what appeared to be mainly locally donated memorabilia and artifacts. everything from old high school letterman jackets and cheerleader uniforms to military items donated by locals to well just about everything you could think of. it was not only a comprehensive detailing of McAllen's past but also a trip down memory lane decade by decade. it was probably the highlight of our time in McAllen. hours of operation are limited so make sure you check before going but it is surely worth working it into your day.

This indoor market offers a variety of shopping options with their small mom n pop stores. I saw everything from clothing, boots, barber, CBD, pastries, to name a few. They even have a small play area to keep children entertained. I saw a small establishment that offers beer. They also have a food court section that offers everything from vegan choices to tacos to pizza. I ate had some tacos. Very good! The food prices were a little steep for my liking. Will definitely be stopping by regularly.
