The trees, the bogs, the flora and fauna is fabulous, the scents magical, and you eventually get to a spellbindingly beautiful coast and beaches, turquoise waters and soft while rocks polished by erosion.
... from walking the full length because it is the nesting ground for Piping Plovers, but there is lots of rocks to sit on to catch a glimpse of seals and birds; it's a wonderful place to picnic, or to read.

The lighthouse itself is very quaint and now serves as a tourist site with the added bonus of snacks being sold if one wishes.
Apparently if you time it right you can go inside, and there are tours, but I visit for the park itself, and it is lovely.

There are lots of sanddollars, crabs, lobster, hermit crabs, coral, and seaweed columns to explore in this crystal clear water.
The water was quite cold so swimming wasnt all that appealing but our family thoroughly enjoyed walking along the beautiful beach, building sand castles, and even some kite flying.

Gaft point is the coastal hike along the cliftline at the end of the beach (please note - some damage to this hiking trail as of Sept 2019 due to the hurricane), but this is one of the coolest hikes in NS (takes a...

You can drive on, park, go for a swim, have a barbecue, relax, and drive off with great delight.
You picnic out the back of the vehicle and the sand is totally amazing and the water is warm...well, cooler than Daytonna...haha!
Summerville Beach Provincial Park Summerville 21.8 mi away

Lovely white sand, shallow entry into the water, gentle waves (that you can surf), bathrooms, change rooms and a clean river that meets the beach.
Small waves most of the time on the ocean side, and on the far side is a creek of river water mixed with salt.

It was beautiful and the perfect spot when the humidex hit 35! Driving into the park I had the thrill of seeing a black bear and her cub run across the road in front of my car!
There are some easy paths from the parking lot that lead down to a couple of beautiful sand beaches.

These are intricate sculptures, each with different expressions; some playful, some winsome, some mythical (watch for a gorgeous dragon), some balancing atop high logs.
If you are in Liverpool, go to Cosby's Garden Centre, if you go to the back of the outside gardens you will enter an unbelievable area of creations done by the artist / owner.

We visit this fine beach yearly for bird watching in the fall,a quiet stroll on compact sand, comfortable walking.

Privateer Park is my favourite place to go walking and biking, or just to sit by the water and relax and enjoy the view.
It's always a joy when walking along the waterfront and observing the wonderful sights surrounding the park.

A very well maintained park with a nice gazebo for a picnic lunch.
I stopped at Port Medway Lighthouse Park and was a little disappointed; it's clean and there are a couple nice picnic tables but definitely nothing to write home about.

Comfortable walking shoes and good physical mobility are necessary to enjoy this hiking experience, and to walk down and climb back up the staircases to the sea caves A definite worthwhile visit and expense if you...
On-site there is: a small canteen/diner with a patio overlooking the sea, very helpful + friendly staff, cool coastal walk to sea caves, and even a beach to try panning for gold for a small fee.

The park would also be nice when the azaleas and rhododendrons are blooming.
But, the unique attraction for me was the abundance of rhododendrons scattered throughout the park.
