- Aarati A2 contributionsThis trail runs along the dam alongside lake. It is very beautiful with about a 1.7 mile trail. There are many walkers and runners. Good views of the hill country too.Written November 3, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- William MGonzales, LA28 contributionsView was good. Most of the view is blocked by the boat houses. Food very average Service was excellent.Written June 11, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- dreamspeakerMiddleton, WI541 contributionsThe lake was very low when we went. Even the boat ramp didn't come near the water, so it was a long walk down to actual water. On the other hand, this meant that the feature that we think is typically an island was a peninsula instead and was totally walkable. Some very neat views out there. Overall, it's pretty.Written May 26, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Carla E2 contributionsGreat campground to stay at on vacation. The campsites are spacious and almost level which is a bonus for RVs. The views are incredible and the breeze comings off the lake is refreshing.
Word of caution though: the gates are locked @ 9 pm. If returning to the campground after that, you have to park outside the gates & walk to your campsite.Written June 13, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. They are very well preserved and there are a lot of them! The guide was knowledgeable and entertaining. I love how the whole thing has been professionally studied and the presentation is well done and informative.
I wanted to take more time looking around the museum but the lady who works there would not leave us alone! She kept making conversation and didn’t pick up in our signals that we wanted to be alone to view the exhibit. I feel bad because she is so nice.Written May 31, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. We walked the Canyon Dam, taking in breathtaking views, visiting the beach, and playing in the water.
The only downside is that the women's restroom door would not latch. I didn't want to leave the kids outside guarding the door while I went in or me taking one kids in, leaving the other ones to watch the door. (All the kids are under 10. There were also a couple of men at the men's restroom.) I went to the office to report it and was told that the Rangers would be notified, but there was no ETA on when it would be addressed. It could be a day or so. The office has a No Public Restrooms sign posted on the door & there are no other restrooms around, so we left to get to the nearest restroom.Written March 13, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. All went well with the marina Suntex rental people. I only take away one star because the ladder, a design of the boat not the rental people, was difficult for older family to get down but especially up and some did not try. Getting in the water would've been more fun, but we would do it again.Written July 26, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Julie M2 contributionsThis was a nice walk. Well maintained trail. Beautiful views. I would go early morning or late afternoon. It gets hot in the middle of the day with no shade.Written September 7, 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - M JAustin, TX7,878 contributionsMy husband and I went North Park mid-week. We enjoyed a walk across Canyon Lake dam. The lake area was not crowd. Certainly worth a trip back.Written December 24, 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- 153grwConverse, TX57 contributionsDue to high water damage many of the Core of Engineers parks are mostly shut down with only small areas available. Cranes Mills Park is well taken care of with a nice view of the lake. Only one section is available. Many of the rv pads are not level so bring your leveling blocks. I actually needed more than one set for my front tires.
If you like to fish there is a fishing dock about a half block away if you stay at Loop One. It has a hole cut in the middle and is set up for crappy. Lots of rocks off the sides of the dock so be prepared to loose some hooks, etc. The depth in the middle of the dock is 25 ft. Looking at the dock from shore, the depth on the left side is 30 ft, lake side 35 ft., and right side 20 ft. I used my Deeper to get this information.Written November 1, 2016This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
