While staying at Gaia River Lodge a short distance away, four of us recently grabbed some mountain bikes from the lodge and rode over to Big Rock Falls where we hiked down to the water.
So, I've spent many a day driving, hiking and exploring Mountain Pine Ridge (the area in Belize where Big Rock Falls is located) and I must admit I hadn't ventured to this spot previously.

We set up for the next day to go zip lining & cave tubing, we definitely made the right choice as Eddie is very knowledgeable about the Maya culture and Belizean way of living.
He was able to arrange a trip to Xunantunich Mayan Ruins the next morning with his brother Eddie before our scheduled cave tubing & we were so happy that it worked out so well!

The waterfalls can be used as nature's masseuse, the water is clear, clean and cool, and when the suns out the rocks are made for tanning!
There's a picnic area at the overlook just past the parking area for the trail that leads to the pools.

The tour is a great mixture of walking/swimming through a river inside the cave - the temperature is very comfortable - , a small climb inside the cave and a tour of Mayan artifacts and human remains.
He was very knowledgeable and encouraging as we forded the river (3 times in and 3 times back), swam through the cave entrance (and a few other areas, depending on your height), and climbed through and up many rocks.
