New vegetation is slowly coming back from horrendous 2011 Bastrop County Complex Fire, Texas' worst-ever wildfire. The cabins, nestled in loblolly pines, are still there. Lots of trails to hike. Park Road 1C connects Bastrop and Buescher State Park and is nice 20-minute scenic drive.

Years back, a fire torched much of Bastrop State Park, but pretty much across the road is the LCRA South Shore Park, untouched by the destruction.
We found the LCRA facility to be everything we desired.
Camping, pulling a small travel trailer out of MICHIGAN, we acquired a secluded campsite right on the lakeshore.
Staff was friendly, sites large, bath houses were modern and kept clean.
There are trails, kayak rentals, cabins, and picnic shelters.
A terrific 4-day stop over for us.

So we booked this park instead of Bastrop State Park. It is a small park on the lake that is lovely. I would rate the park a 5 if not for the site being a bit not level.
This was a total plus find on our travel trip. Love the small lake and loved the view we had.
We had some minor issues leveling our RV as did our travel companions in their RV. But overall, this is a total redo for us. The area around the lake has so much to do. Nice restaurants and the downtown small town feel is nice. The good: It's beautiful, The Bad : nothing, On our revisit list!

We LOVED our quick trip to Fisherman's Park! From the picnic, BBQ, and volleyball to the sandy beach on the river, we will definitely be back!

The museum is a good first stop to Bastrop if you want to get some information. There is a free area and a paid museum in an old firehouse.

We always look for these kind of activities when we visit small towns... I honestly can not tell you why this is not the number one attraction/thing to do in Bastrop. Excellent theater, small production, great hometown feel, reasonably priced, snacks, and beverages during intermission…. What more could you ask for? We saw the Addams family musical. Enjoyed the production and had a great evening out.

This place is great... also a very creative way to utilize the water. Also, the military discount is very generous.

Great experience for new and experienced riders! Dusty and his crew were awesome. They matched me and my kiddos to their horses based on height and riding experience. The horses were very gentle. I had ridden here before with the previous company, but we were taken on new exciting trails. Even their safety helmets were a cut above the others - they were shaped like cowboy hats! I definitely recommend this activity for everyone who loves horses and nature.

We visited with our 11 and 13 y/o granddaughters who are budding artists. They went over every inch of the displays. Much of the art was for sale - I was very tempted by several. It doesn't take long to tour and is worth a stop.
