What travelers are saying
- jdayrail .Hearne, TX76 contributionsThis is an outstanding museum staffed by friendly people who are very proud of the work that went into this facility. My wife and I really enjoyed our visit. The exhibits and displays were really interesting and tastefully done, with just enough information presented to where you don’t feel overwhelmed. Once again, the personnel were fantastic, offering assistance but not to the point of interfering with the visit.Written March 11, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Inspire587709786 contributionsNew vegetation is slowly coming back from horrendous 2011 Bastrop County Complex Fire, Texas' worst-ever wildfire. The cabins, nestled in loblolly pines, are still there. Lots of trails to hike. Park Road 1C connects Bastrop and Buescher State Park and is nice 20-minute scenic drive.Written December 5, 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Gabriel Culiat66 contributionsI visited downtown Bastrop a few days ago and I had a great time. They have lots of restaurants and eaterys near the river to visit. Tons of shopping is also available for folks who want to buy souvenirs. - Rachel S12 contributionsStopped in for the first time tonight. We had a flight of drinks and an iced tea with their house made peach infusion. All were very good. That peach is dangerous! Tastes like liquid pie. Live music was fun. Will be back for sure.Written July 30, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Davin DSan Antonio, TX897 contributionsI’m not a huge fan of snakes and such BUT... when my kids make me go to these places it’s not that bad. It’s really cool to see all of the different species. This place was fun for all ages.Written March 2, 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.

- James BBaton Rouge, LA148 contributionsWe visited with our 11 and 13 y/o granddaughters who are budding artists. They went over every inch of the displays. Much of the art was for sale - I was very tempted by several. It doesn't take long to tour and is worth a stop.Written April 21, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Sivan M372 contributionsWhen you walk inside they have a small gift shop with various toys and horror themed knick knacks. You pay for the bbq at the cashier and can either take it out or eat at the back for outdoor seating. They have specials on Saturdays and a small but great selection of bbq. This is a great iconic stop if you’re passing by or in the area.Written September 12, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - S2sailorTecumseh, MI246 contributionsYears back, a fire torched much of Bastrop State Park, but pretty much across the road is the LCRA South Shore Park, untouched by the destruction.
We found the LCRA facility to be everything we desired.
Camping, pulling a small travel trailer out of MICHIGAN, we acquired a secluded campsite right on the lakeshore.
Staff was friendly, sites large, bath houses were modern and kept clean.
There are trails, kayak rentals, cabins, and picnic shelters.
A terrific 4-day stop over for us.Written March 4, 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. This beautiful building still retains it's original character. While there is still quite a bit of restoration work to be done, you really get a good feel for what it was like to come see a show in this space in the late 1800's. The performances are good and the season is varied so you can surely find a show you'd like to see.Written August 5, 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
