It can be busier on weekends, and obviously during the week is an excellent time to pack a lunch for an outing in this excellent park.
There are also swing benches along the trail if you want to stop and take in the beauty of the park.

... by a lovely fountain, etc...I stayed at Holiday Inn & noted several dogs were staying as well & it proved to be perfect dog friendly hotel as there is a large well maintained dog park within World's Fair Park.
Nice stroll and nature trail, splash pad, children's playground area...just the perfect family friendly relatively " safe" area.

There are many different areas for children including a splash pad with cabanas for changing and drying stations that will quickly dry off wet kids, a nature park with different areas to explore, and a petting zoo...

We spent a short while touring the gardens but were very impressed with the size, variety, and overall peaceful nature.
There are maybe 10 spots to park which is not enough.
Fountain City Park Knoxville 5.4 mi away

This park has a super awesome compliment of climb-on toys, interesting enough for the 10 year old to try everything at least once and be slightly challenged, and plenty for the four year old to be challenge by.
I went by Fountain City Park.
Krutch Park Knoxville 8.1 mi away
#6 of 88 Nature & Parks in Knoxville
I stop and rest in Krutch Park every time I am in downtown Knoxville volunteering at the East Tennessee History Center or eating in a restaurant in Market Square.
Charles Krutch Park is lovely, and with the farmers’ market crowds dwindling, was quite tranquil, with large shade trees everywhere.

Nature reserve, lots of easy to more difficult trails, quarry, museum, boat rental, a bit of history about Knoxville's marble past and the generosity of a family in preserving native lands.
I love the river walk, you can sit on the bench to soak up the views of the Tennessee river; you have many trails to walk through nature and just a short walk on the right is the Quarry.
Lakeshore Park Knoxville 8.5 mi away
#7 of 88 Nature & Parks in Knoxville
The park offers great views of the river and has a great walking trail around the park which is a little over 2 miles with some up and down elevation.
If you like the outdoors, running, walking, in-line skating, tossing a frisbee, taking your dog out to run, picnics, just about anything, you will love this huge 185 acre park.

What we immediately loved about it was we could hike the ridge itself (great trails of various difficulty levels) or cycle the paved path that runs begins at the park beside Melton Hill Lake and runs quite a few m...
Haw Ridge Park itself is a large peninsula that protrudes into the river and has many unpaved walking trails winding through the woods.
