- TravellerMelbourne, Australia17,552 contributionsMy wife and I visited this place to have a look at an Art Exhibition called "Nature". There are displays of art works by members of the Melbourne Artists Association. Entry is free.
There are two paintings by Professor Chijian Ye that are excellent. One in particular, named "Waiting for my Coterie" is spectacular. This painting is done on a piece of silk. The price of this painting is $2,000.Written March 7, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. When in Victoria we've visited to pick up South East Asian groceries unavailable in the supermarkets. The market has always had a Chinese feel but this time since COVID we've noticed the scarcity of the foodstuff we once used to be able to get. If you are looking for Thai or Philippino groceries go elsewhere.
Prices were very high, unsure whether the anchor tenants (Usually Colesworths duopoly) are pulling strings or Centre rents are driving the disparity but the prices for produce was above Supermarket prices and seeing the boxes sourced from exactly the same suppliers. Butchers we avoided seeing the prices.
Other markets are better value though have their own negative points like Preston and Footscray. After having purchased products from western Sydney markets I can only come to the conclusion Melbourne markets don't have the independent supply chains (Rely on the Melbourne Produce Markets at Epping) that Sydney does.Written September 7, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. From speedboats to steam and sail powered they kept our grand daughter busy for about 20 minutes before we had to go to the playground and it really has everything a 3 yo would want - big spiral slide, a wooden ship with slides, climbing nets and a bridge then there are the swings and a mini maze. To top it all off there are free bbq's and a covered seating area. I can understand why it is popular for kiddies parties.Written September 11, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Back Street CrawlerMelbourne, Australia484 contributionsCycling into Box Hill from Balwyn on this path is a great way to spend some quality outdoor time, taking in the shaded fresh air this parkland has to offer.
At times, I just walk the bike though this parkland, and calmly take in the quiet........very niceWritten January 1, 2017This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Between 1885 and 1888, a group of young artists would camp and paint in the bush near Box Hill, perfecting an innovative school of art called "Impressionism." This changed Australian art. The names will be familiar to art lovers -- McCubbin, Streeton, Roberts, and Conder, among others. It was probably the last school of art that was genuinely beautifiul. You can see these early works in the Whitehorse Artspace Gallery, part of the Box Hill Town Hall.Written September 2, 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
