What travelers are saying
- Steelerfan05Pittsburgh, PA21 contributionsthis review is in regards to the condo that we stayed in at Barefoot Landing , one of the golf villas.
Given the week that we chose to go, tropical storm Debby hit on our first day there and didn't let up until Friday afternoon. We got to enjoy 15 minutes at the beach and maybe a total of two hours for the week at the pool. My husband and I decided to go to the pool, during the short breaks of rain and wind gusts. The walk to the pool from the golf villa we stayed in, took a few minutes. It was a nice size pool, but not very many people were there. If it had been sunny weather, the pool might have been too crowded. The condo was one of the first floor, which was great. The first couple days there, the elevator was out of service. Our condo was comfortable, had three bedrooms and everything that one could ask for. Given that we stayed in the condo the majority of the week, we picked an excellent condo to rent.
The only con I would say is that the pool area didn't have a hot tub and there wasn't an exercise facility or gym to go to. My son, who is 20 bought a gym pass for the week, that was about 15 minutes away.Written September 8, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - gcgray92Sparta, KY99 contributionsMy husband and I stumbled upon this gem while waiting for Barefoot Landing to open. They have a great selection of reptiles and assorted animals. Grounds are beautifully maintained and the animals appear to be well tended. It’s an easy walk around the park (wheelchair and stroller friendly) with bathrooms at the beginning and middle. The live animal show was entertaining as well as educational. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable. Highly recommend!!Written September 13, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.

- ItsLikeThis1960North Myrtle Beach, SC117 contributionsThe beach is not overcrowded but you have to go early to get parking. The sunrise is excellent. The beach is clean. There are great restaurants on the beach and in the area. Great for kids tooWritten July 7, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - cindy c1 contributionThe ride was great BUT beware of them getting your card info and trying to clean out your bank account. I’m not saying it was definitely them who done it but they were one of very few places I pulled my card out for. And 2 days later someone tried to drain my account dry for almost 1500$ but thank God my bank declined and caught most of it but unfortunately they got me for 400$ which is being disputed as I type this. Just be aware there are bad people everywhere even the ones strapping you in to a slingshot ride. Use CASH only when paying for stuff like this that way they have to earn their money instead of stealing it ✌️Written May 8, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Curious0453445694216 contributionsThis is a wonderful beach!!
I have not stayed here in so long since we we young kids.
Now at 58 we came back and the place is amazing. We stayed at the Avista resort and the staff were all wonderful people.
You could not find a better place to stay. The OD Pavillion is walking distance away and the cherry grove pier us a short drive.
The pool facility here is amazing!!

There are several public beach access sites , some with bathrooms, areas to wash sand off, walkways over the dunes to the sand and golf cart parking. While the golf cart parking is usually full depending on when you come, you will need to pay to park it if you don’t have county registration and stickers for it. The beach is spacious and wide, they offer chairs and umbrellas for rent because there are no tents allowed nor any other shading devices other than umbrellas. Pets are not allowed on beaches during summer months except before 9 am and after 5 pm. There are lifeguards on duty most of the time during the summer. There are also nearby beach activities like parasailing and banana boats, beach stores, restaurants and tourist attractions.Written July 9, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - drbroundtheworldSaint Louis, MO400 contributionsWe’ve been visiting windy hill beach for 10+ years & have never been disappointed. Our condo isn’t near the mega condos so the beach is not crowded at all, lots of space. The beach is always clean, lifeguards r friendly. Can’t beat walking out our condo directly onto the beach. The beach is safe to walk at nite w/ the kids. Heaven on earth!Written October 4, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - PollyfrankPoland, IN10 contributionsNice stroll out to see the area.
