What travelers are saying
- AlanCinnaminson, NJ1 contributionOur September visit was great. Free parking - Easy walk to the beach - Clean restrooms - Benches and Gazebos to relax - Place to rinse the sand off your feet - Splash pad for the kids (and kids at heart) - Lifeguard on the beach - Umbrella and chair rental- Flat beach so you can walk out far and still touch bottom - Friendly people from near and far - Short walk takes you to many places to eat, drink and shop.
I’m sure this beach would be very crowded during the summer months but it was perfect during our visit.Written September 20, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - justduckyoneMcMinnville, TN46 contributionsHilton Head is so bike friendly! Renting a bike was easy at Wheelz, I had a trike, and it was so useful to pick up groceries and carry beach bags on the bike. There is even a bike service area outside of Cologny beach, for air and various tools for tightening anything for your bike. The bike paths are wide, including while crossing the roads. We had a blast!Written July 30, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- David TKnoxville, TN9 contributionsWe toured the Museum and grounds and found it quite interesting. We also took the Blue Crab Discovery tour with Carol Horowitz who was a knowledgeable and friendly guide, and the Dolphin and Nature Cruise which was a blast. Both were excellent and well worth the cost of admission!Written September 10, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Tracy O3 contributionsThis is a quiet hidden gem on the way to Hilton Head. It’s away from the noise and crowds of the rest of the Island, and it’s a beautiful place to walk and take in the sights and sounds of nature. Ibis Pond was amazing! So many different birds to watch and listen to. It was like a different world.
Other ponds along the way had alligators and turtles to watch and snap pictures of.
The grounds are well manicured and the trails are easy to walk.
Next time we hope to take bikes so we can see the entire area.

We biked around Sea Pines and through the Forest preserve. Saw an alligator and some pretty birds. Biked over to Harbor Town had lunch, and back to the bike shop. Then over to the Salty Dog for shopping, drinks, and desert! Great day!Written August 6, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - TryitYoullLikeItBirmingham, AL449 contributionsThe museum is part of the journey to the top giving you a chance to follow the history of Hilton Head Island from the ancient to the present, good pictures and a few artifacts. All of this of course is topped by terrific views of the harbor and down the 18th fairway of the famed Harbor Town course.Written August 28, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - jlrcommercialAtlanta, GA5 contributionsThis is a great 30-60 minute diversion for the day you need a break from the beach. The thought-provoking history is well explained, especially with a couple of video links. The area is also beautiful and peaceful, especially the salt marsh. - RICART75Peru, IN2,036 contributionsOnce again, visiting this area was one of the pleasant parts of our HH stay.
Whether dining at Poseidon, indulging at Kilwins (ice-cream) or French Bakery (desserts), exploring shops or just enjoying the delightful Xmas decorations; partaking of this section of the Island is always a pleasure.Written December 31, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Meged55Chicago, IL7 contributionsWe booked a boat tour and got there early to ensure we had parking. This was a great spot to let the kids play before and after. I saw a lot of people enjoying a coffee in the park while their kids played, which seems pretty perfect. It was shady and offered a lot for our 3 and 5 year olds.Written June 11, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
