Once the tour was over we were able to explore the grounds with it's amazing river views, large old oak trees and beautiful flowers.
An historic landmark for sure, our tour guide was very knowledgeable in the history of the house and the plantation.

... invented Tara and Twelve Oaks on a Hollywood backlot for his epic "Gone With The Wind" motion picture, he could have filmed the plantation scenes at Hampton Plantation State Historic Site in South Carolina.
Wonderfully authentic !! To see an unrestored historic site like it was in the 1700's was very cool.

The tour is amazing, the staff so incredible and helpful and the views are spectacular!
Having toured multiple historic sites this week it has become important to me to get a sense that my guide is really interested in history and cares about the things he/she is telling.

Stroll past private boat docks...several waterside bars and restaurants...the river drifting by...and it is all free!! Great views of birds and fish feeding in the river...we could spend the whole day here.
The Harbour Walk is the perfect way to connect the history, great shops and restaurants along with the beautiful view of the harbour.
