- Cheryl CPhoenix, AZ63 contributionsThe fountain wasn't actually working when we visited but it still looked cool and the surrounding area was awesome! The ocean was the backdrop and there is a boardwalk down the way a bit with several porch swings.Written March 13, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Bill CPhoenix56 contributionsMy wife and I visited Middleton in March. It was just awe inspiring seeing the grounds and the beauty of the flowers, trees and total surrounding gardens.
The house was an awesome tour inside as well. Many treasures are inside that you will want to see for yourself. You can see many treasured artifacts showing our countries Southern history. - olives&andy’sOrlando, FL48 contributionsThis was a really great place! It had two stories and multiple balconies overlooking the water. It was packed with beautiful fish and other animals. It had very interactive exhibits and employees everywhere answering questions and giving information. We spent about 2 hours total at the aquarium, it was a great part of our trip.
My only critique is that it was a little pricey however we didn’t mind supporting a great cause!Written March 15, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Chygrl93 contributionsDuring a Gullah Tour, we stopped by this museum. We had the privilege of visiting Mr Simmons workshop and the inside of his home. Such an humble man with an amazing talent. It’s not a whole lot to see as the home is small. The iron works on display are beautiful.Written July 11, 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Taylor BChicago, IL8,345 contributionsWashington Square is the oldest public park in Charleston, South Carolina, dating to 1818. Located in the heart of the city's beautifully landscaped historic district, behind City Hall at the corner of Meeting Street and Broad Street, it is noted for the planting beds and red brick walls that were installed in 1881. With plenty of shade and seating to relax on a hot summer day and admire the flower displays and oak trees and historic monuments, visitors also are close to some of the city's most popular bars and restaurants. Most notably, in the center of the park is an obelisk-shaped memorial to the Washington Light Infantry, a military and social organization located in Charleston. One of the oldest militia groups still active in the United States, it was founded in 1807. Made of Carolina gray granite, the 42-foot high memorial, a smaller model of the Washington Monument in Washington DC, was unveiled in 1891 and is inscribed with the names of important military battles. Along the east wall of the park is a monument to Confederate General Pierre Beauregard, who was in charge of the city's defenses during the Civil War in 1862-1864. Finally, a life-size sculpture of George Washington was unveiled in 1999. What took so long? The park's name was changed from City Hall Park to Washington Square on October 19, 1881, the centennial of the British surrender at Yorktown, ending the Revolutionary War.Written September 14, 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - KayCharleston, SC2 contributionsMiddleton Place Equestrian Center provided a safe, enjoyable, and organized riding experience. The trail guide, Lori, was knowledgeable and friendly. Overall, an excellent afternoon outing.Written February 24, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Lila TCharleston, SC143 contributionsThis is a nicely shaded, smooth and well maintained trail that crosses some bridges and goes into a beautiful wooded area. There are several areas near marsh and water. This trail starts with about 2 or 3 miles of black pavement that goes through the backs of neighborhoods, and crosses streets. This first part is smooth enough for wheelchairs or strollers. Then the path becomes hard pack dirt for the next 5 or so miles, It is about 8 and 1/4 miles long total. The end of the path near Johns Island is the prettiest. No more construction on the path when we went today. Great for biking and jogging, great way to get some fresh air and exercise.Written October 26, 2016This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Vette10 contributionsSC is a beautiful city. The people are quite friendly. We enjoyed the horse drawn carriage tour and visiting a few eateries, the Crabhouse and Delaney’s. Learned about the city’s history from the Charleston Museum and the Ft. Sumpter National Monument Park. Definitely returning. Thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.Written April 22, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
