This old house is down by the harbor. It’s right across the street. It said it’s almost 200 years old and it looks amazing. Saving our history is such a good idea.

Beautifully laid out and maintained neo classic building in historic Charleston. The collection, focused on Charleston,
contains a number of masterpieces of American art - by Powers, Sully, and West, among others. Amazing miniatures. Very thoughtful captions which place the works in artistic and historical context.
Good museum shop and informed helpful staff. Deserves two hours.

Such a great stop and free! We all really enjoyed stopping here. It is only a small area of 1 floor and took us about 1 hour but well worth the stop! The student on-site was very knowledgeable and eager to answer our questions. Some really great fossils to view and read about. One a hot summers day, this was a wonderful visit!

I found out about this place in a tour and wow what a hidden gem! The story is so fascinating and definitely worth a visit for anyone in Charleston. The craft is beautiful and I hope it can continue to be passed down.

This the last corner of the main intersection in Charleston but its building is just as impressive. I did not get inside but I enjoyed the exterior.

Park at a meter on Calhoun and check out the Halsey, which is free to the public and has rotating exhibitions throughout the year If possible check out their opening nights (6:30-8:00) which are $5 for non-members with an open bar. Artists often provide a talk the next day. The student galleries are also fun to stroll through...you never know where talent will rise to the surface!

This is a very small museum but is worth a stop if you are in the area (The Visitor's Center is nearby). It is free, and I enjoyed learning some about the history of the train and it's impact on Charleston.

Renovation in progress. The museum is currently closed for remodeling and renovation. Unsure of when it will reopen

This is a small but interesting spot that will make boomers nostalgic. For those with more recent birth dates the museum offers a look at communication before Facebook etc. This facility is used by classes and so you need to be flexible but the small staff is nice and enthusiastic.
