    Magnolia plantation was beautiful.
Our driver Allen was very knowledgeable and friendly.
However, our only complaint is that we arrived a little after 11:00 and the van was scheduled to leave at 2:15. Even though the plantation is open until 5:00. We were definitely disappointed with that because we expected to be able to stay the entire time. If we knew how short the visit would be, we would have obtained our own form of transportation to visit because we didn't get to see or do as much as we wanted.

The boat trip across was very pleasant and afforded some great views of Charleston and the surrounding area. Fort Sumter itself was pretty amazing and learning the history was fascinating. The rangers did a really good job. I would skip the on board snack bar....overpriced as expected, but the hotdog was nearly rancid.

Our guide was an awesome storyteller and that made the tour even more enjoyable. The small group size made it easy for everyone to hear the guide and keep up with the walk. A very entertaining experience - and we learned quite a bit about Charleston's history!

Robin did an outstanding food tour, replete with Charleston history, recommendations. She has a very strong grasp on the culinary history as well.

It was a very enjoyable 3 hour stroll and culinary experience.

If you are ever in Charleston, by all means take the tour

I have visited Charleston annually for 20+ years and taken at least 20 carriage tours. Most of those rides have included interesting narrative and pretty sites but over the years we have found that the content has degraded as less experienced guides have become common and route restrictions lead to less interesting paths. We booked our first walking tour for this year's trip and it has been the highlight of our long weekend. Eric was not only very knowledgeable and entertaining but he was also very accommodating to every member of our small group. I learned more during our 3 hours together than I have on all previous tours and he spoke "real history" which he presented in an entertaining manner. The walk was casual pace, and we were able to stop to ask questions along the way. I HIGHLY recommend even if you have been on previous limited tours. Do this tour early in your visit so you can use your new knowledge to enjoy the remainder of your walks through town.

The small group format allows for more personable interaction and this was good enough to do again so we're already looking forward to next year.

This is an excellent tour, and for me -better than a "highlights tour." Captain Jim was our Tour Guide. His knowledge, humor, and love for Charleston really shines through - he's undoubtedly one of the best Guides we've ever had. Highly recommended.

Phillip was great and easy to talk to. We had a blast and learned some things we didn't know we wanted to learn. We'll be back with our kiddo next time.

Mike was extremely knowledgeable on the area and a great story teller. It was evident he was passionate about what he does. He answered all of our questions thoroughly and I was impressed with how much he knew. The sun wasn’t all the way down at our 7:30 start time, but the spookiness levels were still high throughout.

Major bonus for me: At the end of the tour, he ensured we all knew where we were, directions to where we were going, and had a safe way to get there. As a solo female, I greatly appreciated his thoughtfulness of our safety.

We booked the Middleton Plantation Tour with Nick, the owner of Chicora Tours. He picked us up at our hotel and was extremely personable and professional. Nick provided us with an overview of Charleston history while we were driving to the plantation. Upon our arrival, the knowledgeable docents gave detailed tours about the Middleton family, the land, and buildings. There were several demonstrations going on that day including how indigo dye was made, the harvesting of rice, and how wool is prepared. A delicious buffet lunch was included as part of our tour package at the restaurant on site. We were enjoying ourselves so much that Nick agreed to pick us up a half hour later than planned. On the return trip to Charleston Nick continued our history lesson and pointed out several historical neighborhoods and homes. On a side note, we were interested in a ghost tour, so Nick set that up for us as well. He promised that our guide was one of the best and Darian did not let us down. Her great knowledge of history and ghostly stories was totally engaging and enthralling. We spent 2 hours with Darian and could have listened for much longer.

The grounds are beautiful with the tall oak trees lining the drive up to the house all with hanging moss. The gardens around the house were in full bloom. The house itself dates back to the early 1900’s so it is not the original.it is a private home and you can only see three rooms on the first floor. There is a Steinway piano in the living room that dates back to the late 1800’s. You can easily take an Uber to this location. They make it easy with a drop off and pick up station on the premises. The slave quarters and othe buildings go back to the period prior to the civil war

This was my 2nd time on this amazing tour. Forrest provided great history and cultural information about Charleston. The walking tour was fantastic, but the lunch after was just incredible! The meal was so delicious with so much attention to detail, texture and flavor. This reinvigorated my desire to be a better cook. Highly recommend!

Highly recommend this tour! Mr. Zimmerman was very knowledgeable about the Charleston area. My husband and I learned so much from him in just 2 hours...and saw so much in 2 hours.
