- MichelleB531Saint Francis, MN30 contributionsLoved our cruise! Captain Jayden was great, even if his jokes weren't! 😉 Loved when the boat pulled into Chapel Cove! Was pleasantly surprised that the boat fit! We had beautiful weather.Written October 20, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - readingteach627Livonia, MI379 contributionsThis was quite an experience. We had a lovely day to venture out on Lake Superior to view the shipwrecks. The captain did a marvelous job positioning the boat over each site so everyone had a chance to view it through the glass bottom panels. The main level of the ship has plenty of room with viewing queues around each glass portion. I highly recommend this excursion.Written October 5, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- readingteach627Livonia, MI379 contributionsWhat a fun adventure! We really enjoyed this ride and seeing the pictured rocks of Long Island. If you have children be sure to sit them on the aisle with a parent next to them. If you don't mind getting wet sit near the front! Be sure to make reservations for a specific time and date. Get there a bit early as the waiting area has a line for a "first come first seated" system. It was fine with us to be in the back row.Written October 5, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Niles TLeesburg, FL19 contributionsFirst time in the UP and was blown away by Pictured Rocks. I didn’t know a place like this existed up here and wasn’t expecting it to be so beautiful. We kayaked the bottom and hiked the top the next day. Water was glassy and kayaking along the rocks was amazing. If you’re unsure just do it. You won’t regret it!Written September 30, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Tina Marie G1 contributionWe had an amazing experience and time kayaking with Glenn as our tour guide out to Arch rock. Not only was the water and scenery stunning, the Island history and stories shared along the way, made for such an enjoyable adventure. We started out our excursion with a little fog but Glenn ensured everyone’s safety and comfort was the priority of our entire time with him. I would HIGHLY recommend not only Great Turtle for a great time but also Glenn, if you are lucky enough to get him as your guide! A memory we will cherish as a couple!Written September 22, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Sue VGrand Rapids11 contributionsWhat a wonderful crew! I had the pleasure of hosting a corporate group on the Isle Royal Queen III. Because the carriage transfers are on "island time", my second carriage of guests was delayed. The crew kept everyone on board entertained while we waited. Our crew consisted of Taylor, Dominic, Jacob, Katie and Will who provided great live music. Although our departure from the dock was delayed, the crew still provided a wonderful cruise for my guests. The ship was clean and spacious with more than adequate seating. I highly recommend this experience!Written November 22, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Homecroft56Nineveh, IN489 contributionsReviews were very favorable - did not disappoint. We took the 10 am tour. Excellent narration to point out everything we went by, and he had a sense of humor. Overall nearly 2 hour ride - went through the American locks, then returned through the Canadian locks. Amazing to see the locks up close and to learn how they work. This is their 90th year - I watched them go through the locks in 1961 - finally got to come back and go for a ride over 60 years later!Written October 16, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Colleen R1 contributionWe had a wonderful four day three night kayak adventure on Isle Royale. Our guide - Jake - we extremely knowledgeable, professional and patient, not to mention a fantastic cook. KAC supplies everything needed for the adventure. We highly recommend them!!Written September 3, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Lindsay WHershey, PA40 contributionsI'd been looking forward to kayaking Pictured Rocks for quite some time but had a very limited window that I'd be in the area. The staff eased my nerves about cancelations and rescheduling and booked me on a picture perfect day. I didn't want a tour group with a ton of other people and this was definitely the company to go with. They showed us a lot of cool things but also gave us plenty of space to feel alone in nature and get a ton of cool pictures. On arrival we were greeted with freezepops and after our tour was over the van that picked us up brought ice cream for everyone. Drybags, bug spray, sunscreen, motion sickness medication, all provided if needed. Northern Waters thought of everything and we so appreciated our experience. Thanks!Written September 18, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- arvillatIron89 contributionsAwesome! Our first time white water rafting, and Jason was great! He gave very clear instructions before the trip, he was always calm but humorous, we felt very safe in his hands.Written August 27, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Kokopeli65Dublin, Ireland3 contributionsCaptain Jason was the best tour guide ever (and a really nice guy). We had such an amazing fun time out on the boat! It was my first time back to the USA in over 10 years, as I live overseas in Ireland, so getting to experience the Keweenaw Peninsula and Lake Superior in all its glory was extra special. Just being on the boat together with my best friend and my family made it epic! The weather was perfect and every single one of us absolutely loved every minute of it! Thanks again so much Captain Jason...you are a star!! We will definitely be back again soon!! - Flipper029Wenham, MA610 contributionsWe took the Isle Royale Queen IV to Isle Royale National Park on a rainy, windy September morning. We were taking a day trip to the island so that required about 3 1/2 hour boat ride to the island and about the same amount of time for the return trip. Over 7 hours total was spent on this boat.
I knew that the better part of our day would be spent on this boat so I was very happy that the seats were cushioned, there were tables for some to sit on, and the boat ride was mainly inside. There was a bathroom available and also a snack bar. The only thing I ordered from the snack bar was a hot cup of tea. I am happy to report that the tea was hot! That cup of tea was better than many I have had on the land.
On this particular day, crossing Lake Superior was a rough ride. We even had 10 to 12 foot waves on the return trip. Many people on board were seasick. We were not sick at all and enjoyed the rocking ship almost like being on an amusement park ride only it lasted all day. For days afterward, the two of us talked about how much we enjoyed this ride.
People prone to motion sickness should probably reconsider taking this trip. At the very least, take some Dramamine with you although I am not sure that was enough for the ill passengers.Written September 20, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. She taught us the proper body mechanics of kayaking which made our almost 12 mile tour doable! The scenery was magnificent! We saw 2 bald eagles and a swimming porcupine. Great views of the islands and Lake Huron! Lunch was delicious and Sue was super personable and we enjoyed great conversation with her throughout the day. I will be booking another tour for next year!Written September 1, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Cindy V4 contributionsVery enjoyable and full of great information. The gal was very knowledgeable and entire crew from ticket booth to shop crew were accommodating. It is well worth the ticket price.Written September 16, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
