The drive into the park is just as cool as the park itself. The lady behind the counter in the ranger station was very nice and informative. The swim beach is awesome, just get there before noon or you’ll have a hard time finding parking. We were there by 9am and when we left after 1pm it was packed. The sand is super fine and soft. The lighthouse is closed but you walk around the grounds. There is a gift shop next to it. There were dolphins swimming around the fishing pier.

What a wonderful place the Conroy Center is! I enjoyed seeing all the pictures and artifacts about Pat! He was a teacher at Beaufort High when I was a student.and it was like seeing him come to life again!!! Pat was a wonderful author and a great friend to my Class of 1969. My friend and I enjoyed our visit and talking to the docent. It's a place all fans of Pat Conroy need to visit!

We really enjoyed strolling in this urban waterfront park. It is a nice connector between the commercial establishments and the water. You can watch the boats in the marina, swing on the adult swings, or let the kids play in the playground. Nicely landscaped with markers explaining some of the history of the area. Even the unhoused residents were pleasant to us! It was fairly quiet while we were there, but we are told that it hosts several community events throughout the year.

Very nice and clean with cute restaurants and small business shopping. All the employees were so friendly. And the park with swings for relaxing watching people, birds boats on the water was a treat.

We had a great time at Hunting Island State Park. The state park itself is beautiful and the lighthouse was amazing. The grounds are nicely kept and there is a nice gift shop that’s available that sells local items and vacation things.

Unfortunately, the lighthouse itself is closed on the inside, while the steps are apparently being refurbished for safety reasons. The volunteers there indicated they were also working on a observation deck to improve things for future visitors. We were told that it would open in 2025, but there was not a specific date given .

Absolutely love this area! Enjoyed the history, the architecture, the restaurants, the shopping, the people. It is a must visit destination. Take the walking tour, visit the islands, enjoy the beaches and stay awhile. The area is a treasure! We could spend days here and will definitely visit again

During a weekend visit to Beaufort, SC, trekked for the first time on the well-maintained, expertly crated, and stunningly scenic Beaufort Spanish Moss Trail. Entered at Mile 6 (behind the Publix with a well marked entrance) and walked into Beaufort's old town (departing the trail itself at Hermitage and then followed Ribaut up to Bay Street). Even in the heat of August, people were cordial, said hello, and were helpful with directions. Quite the treat seeing all the marsh birds, the darling homes, and the history way-sgins along the path. Walkers, runners, and bicyclists coexisted with ease. Next time, in cooler weather, we'll walk it all the way to Port Royal. Enjoy!

What a delightful tour! We went not knowing what to expect...what we got was a very interesting and in-depth presentation by an extremely knowledgeable tour guide (Tom Kelly), full of side stories and little interesting facts. Our brains felt full with all we were presented on the long and interesting history of the area. We HIGHLY recommend this if you have any interest in history.

Beautiful cemetery. My mother resides here. They keep the grounds pristine and are respectful of the time you want to be with your loved one who resides in eternal rest on these grounds.

When in SC, don't miss St Helena Parish Anglican Church in Beaufort:

St Helena's Parish, established in 1712 in Beaufort SC, with the original church completion and first burial in the historic churchyard dating to 1724, is one of the oldest in SC. Importantly, St Helena continues as a vibrant and popular congregation and as a leader in a growing community.

Worth an hour or so of your time. Learned a lot about the area’s coastal water and some local history. Had a ten year old granddaughter with us and her great grandmother. Everyone enjoyed. Oh and it was free too!
