- Dunlap1New Oxford, Pennsylvania48 contributionsWe saw the Christmas Show Joy to the World. It was amazing! The singers and dancers were phenomenal. We sat in the center orchestra section, row K and L. The seats were comfortable and there is a cup holder which is a bonus. We found the staff helping to seat everyone friendly and helpful. Richard was in our section and interacted with all the patrons happily which made for nice pre-show laughs. Will definitely visit this venue again. - Stephen FKempsford, UK225 contributionsFor anyone interested in American history in the C19th, and particularly the issue of slavery and the genesis of the Civil War, Wheatland, President Buchanan's home, is not to be missed. The visit starts with a short, informative video explaining the historical background to, and consequences of, Buchanan's Presidency, which is followed by a guided tour of the house, expertly led by a young lady in period dress; and can conclude with a stroll in the grounds and sight of the outbuildings. We were lucky with the weather - a beautiful fall Saturday - and I certainly came away with my knowledge of the key issue, and Buchanan's role, greatly enhanced.Written December 13, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - DEL1_11Manchester Township, NJ148 contributionsWe went to see a fantastic showing of South Pacific at this beautiful historic theater. - Charles_and_SusanNottingham, UK7,619 contributionsThis is an excellent site run by volunteers. There's an introductory film which tells you about the museum and its buildings. Some buildings are open every day to enter and chat with the volunteers in them. Other buildings are open depending on how many volunteers they have that day. Most of the closed ones have an opening for you to look inside.
There is one building with an extensive collection of farm machinery and other period objects.
In some of the buildings there are demonstrations taking place, e.g. blacksmith, spinning and weaving.Written October 18, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
