I was surprised at the archaic style of the pool. It has metal steps and rails, which both add to the "hottness" of the place. It is not covered at all by shade, and it has an unusual smell about it. You can not submerge yourself, and you should be mindful of your blood pressure and general health.
With all that in mind, try very hard to get to this pool. The water is hot, hot, hot and immediately therapeutic. I wish I could have stood the heat for longer as it felt sooo good and so uncomfortable at the same time. I wish we had gone in the cooler months, I can imagine it would have been even better.
    I highly recommend a visit.

We toured an underground mine It was a great insight into the trials an tribulations of the mining community of lightening Ridge and how they mine and extract opals. Our guide was exceptional and very informative with great wit and include a picture of our guide!

I was there for 4 days and covered pretty much everything. The history was fascinating and I thoroughly recommend taking a tour or the town just doesn’t make sense.

There are so many activities for families that you’ll need a week. With visiting mines, fossicking, multiple pools, skateboard park, walks and dirt golfing, the time will fly by.

Don’t go in summer unless you really like the heat of 35 + and take a jumper as the nights are quite cool.

    What a wonderful Art Gallery!
Such great Outback art, including the quirky emus, which also appear on murals in other places.

We enjoyed it very much and also to see John on the screen and hear him talk about his life.

You are not allowed to take pictures inside, which is fair enough and should be respected.

This is a great Farmstay. Large campsites, so definitely not on top of each other and very peaceful. Great place for kids with all the animals. Jacinda who is a very friendly person gave an interesting and informative tour of how all areas of the farm work. Her off siders Kelly and Brad were also friendly, helpful and informative. We thoroughly enjoyed our week long stay. Thanks to all of you at Carinya. Cheers Debbie and Glen

What a fabulous morning, worth every penny!
Robert is very interesting. Firstly, sharing details of his family's life through the generations and also the history of the area. His museum is amazing.
Therese was very friendly and made us the most beautiful scones and piping hot tea for our morning tea.

The cactus garden was a lot bigger than we expected and with quite a few different varieties. Honesty box type arrangement for entry fee.

Went twice, very friendly staff. Spend $1 on the car door tours map on arrival ( I did not know about this) and ask for the Orange door tour map which is well worth the drive out of town. Just don't do what I did and mistake it as the yellow door tour on local map they give you as it is not on this map and we thought the locals were playing a joke on us tourist as nothing was lining up :-).

This is a wee bit embarrassing but when I was in town, I asked where I could find this emu...they told me that I drove past it on the way in. I mentioned that surely I would have seen it! They laughed and said well it's huge. It turns out that I was so focused on not running over the lizards that insist on sunning themselves on the road at this time of year that I missed a rather large and obvious emu sculpture.

And that's a bit wrong... it's a beautiful emu made from recycled material. You will even find that they used a VW beetle for this. (It's almost like Stanley ate it)

Stanley is a wee bit of fun and you really should visit him... so don't look for lizards, look for Stanley!

A great look out for watching amazing 🤩 sunsets! The evening we were there it was a basic silhouette sunset. Very popular. The beer can house is also there & is a quirky little building.

John Murray's wonderful artworks are found throughout LR as well as in Walgett and Eumundi (so far from what I've located). Worth enjoying these larger-than-life depictions of quirky takes on outback life.
