We had a great time visiting the Lake - went to both marinas, had a picnic, went on the boat ride around the lake, went to the dam.
We spent a lot of time walking in the parks near the lake watching speed boats, pontoons, skiers, and fishermen.

We ended our cavern journey with some "gem panning" and let me tell you.. it didnt matter how old you were (we had 5 in our party.. ages 11 to grandparents) panning that bag of dirt and finding various sized gems...
The young lady who was our tour guide was very informative and professional and you can tell she took pride in the presentation of the caves and their history.

Trough Creek State Park

It's a bit more crowded these days than it was ten years ago, but this small, hidden park is a great destination for hiking or hanging out next to the bubbling creek.
They have nice picnic areas and scenic hiking trails to enjoy during nicer weather.

Great hiking, fishing, kayaking, disc golf, swimming , picnicking and ranger programs
The trails in the park made us feel we were stepping in to some kind of adventure, finding the giant kilns in the foggy distance .
