- Dontastic10 contributionsWillaKenzie had the widest range of pinots tasting profiles on our visit to the Newburg/Dundee area. We thoroughly enjoyed the $75 elevated experience (highly recommended). The included charcuterie board was high end with a wide variety of high quality food paring options which was a lot of fun. Our hostess was generous, entertaining with great depth of knowledge per pour. This was the last winery of our visit, and turned out to be the best overall pinot experience for us !Written May 30, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Donna MSan Diego, CA5 contributionsA delicious representation of Oregon wine! The tasting room is an art exhibit and that made our experience even better. I fell in love with the reflection pool and have added this as a must see stop for future trips.Written May 27, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - bmanpennsylvaniaPennsylvania155 contributionsI wonder how it feels to be surrounded by wines that bear your name. Not your family name — but your first name. That’s the one question I didn’t ask Solena when she greeted us at the vineyard that bears her name. Her father is one of the most famous winemakers in the Valley and the pictures of the two of them making wine adorn the tasting room.
All this would have been just a nice experience if the wines were not incredible. Thankfully — they were just that. We started with the Rose which was “surprising”. Not at all your typical French-style Rose. Still bone dry but with floral notes and a complexity that is uncommon in our experience. This is a sipping Rose — not just a “sit on the patio on a hot day” Rose.
Then, of course, we moved onto the Pinot Noirs. Each better than the prior. We started with the current vintage and then stepped back 10 years to 2014 just to see how the wine matures over time. WOW! This is why you visit a vineyard and not just a wine store. What a great experience.
Highly recommended! No wonder they consistently get scores in the 94-96 range.Written September 7, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Our “subterranean tasting” experience at Gran Moraine was incredible. From the knowledgable experience which was hosted by Tim, the fantastic tasting room, to incredible tasting wines pared with a tasty charcuterie plate, and the nice tour of the winery.
Our time spent there was so enjoyable and we will highly recommend Gran Moraine to everyone we meet.Written July 8, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. This is a must visit while out looking for Pinot Noir in the wine country around Yamhill. Be sure to ask about when they are going to fire up their pizza oven...it's a great time to visit.Written September 4, 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. It's obvious that his passion for wine growing and wine making is an amazing accomplishment, considering his small staff and the size of his vineyards. Definitely make a stop here to visit Chris and taste his wines. Excellent!Written August 11, 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - bethebarnesLexington, KY166 contributionsWe (3 adults, 1 teen) spent two nights at Kookoolan Farm while exploring the Willamette Valley. We loved staying there and were sad to leave.
Very comfortable and well-appointed, with a great deck and lots of space. My niece and I really enjoyed learning about the workings of the farm and getting to pick fresh fruits and veggies for our meals.
Would definitely stay here again!Written July 7, 2017This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - S BPortland, OR100 contributionsFriend told us they had a great time here so we purchased 4 lessons and glad we did. Large clean indoor arena, great selection of saddles to choose from and very well cared for horses and barn animals. They offer lessons and trail rides including to local wineries. Will update review when we sign up for that. The owner is Sarah and she is very friendly and patient. Her ranch hand Denny was my guide and he is also super friendly and helpful as well. Check them out! Go for a horseback ride to a winery!Written August 29, 2017This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Laura ASo. Cal87 contributionsDaughter set us up with a wine tasting trip while we were visiting. Ho Hum said me. About an hour drive from Portland. Met with Crystal K (co-owner? and winemaker). Very kind and very knowledgable lady. I don't remember how many different wines she poured for us but I do remember my favorites! Old Vine Reserve Dijon 777 and Pommard. We enjoyed going in to the cellar with her and sampling directly from the barrels then going back up for more samples with grapes and cheese. What a delightful experience, I'd enjoy going back!Written March 11, 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
