The woodland area is really nice with little boards giving info about various trees with some wood sculptures dotted around...we had a pushchair which we manoeuvred easily round the whole site.
I can only imagine the negative reviews are from an adult point of view but all in all kids will love it!

Greyfriars Chapel and Franciscan Gardens Canterbury 6.0 mi away
#3 of 43 Sights & Landmarks in Canterbury
This is my favourite place in Canterbury - a beautiful, ancient sacred site dating back to the time of St. Francis.
There are services here on a Wednesday at 12.30pm and the building is sites amongst a small meadow from which are fine views of the cathedral in the city.
Christ Church Gate Canterbury 6.0 mi away

St. Martin's Church Canterbury 6.3 mi away
#1 of 43 Sights & Landmarks in Canterbury
This Saxon church with many later additions is built on the site of a Roman temple to Siluris (the spring still wells up and floods the church occasionally), and may have been a Celtic shrine before the Romans.
You can catch your breath from the uphill climb in the peaceful churchyard, the city view from the top terrace is stunning.
Eastbridge Hospital Canterbury 5.9 mi away
#5 of 43 Sights & Landmarks in Canterbury
This historic site is small, but for anyone interested in the history it should absolutely be a must visit.
You can even get a unique view of the river flowing below the building - look down on punters floating past!
St. Augustine's Abbey Canterbury 6.2 mi away
#6 of 43 Sights & Landmarks in Canterbury
There is a modern visitors centre that complements the historical site, the audio guide gives you the full story of the Abbey and it’s well worth visiting before going across to Canterbury Cathedral .
We visited as English Heritage members and in many ways the site also reflects English History over the last 1500 years. The museum /visitor centre is well laid out and the audio guide works very well

Westgate Towers Museum & Viewpoint Canterbury 5.8 mi away

... from the Canterbury West train station (located north of the city - rather confusing): the gorgeous towers presiding over the city, with views from the towers all the way to the Cathedral and further afield.
It was the city gaol for some time and has some very interesting artefacts and the view from the top is fabulous.
