    This walk was amazing!
It took 2 hours at a relaxed pace and we walked through rainforest, pristine beaches, and mangroves.
We didn't see any crocodiles or cassowaries but did see lots of lizards, birds, and butterflies.
You will need to wear trainers as the rainforest part of the walk is too wet for flipflops (thongs) and make sure you take a hat and plenty of water, also make sure to read the signs - although we didn't see the crocodiles there are there so be very careful, do not leave the path.

There is a small car park at the start of the walk with a public toilet.

Splash pad is fantastic, community came together to raise the funds. Twice this year council “workers” have left dangerous broken metal poles numerous times in and around the area as can be seen currently just outside the splash. Overgrown gardens are constant. Maybe one day council will do their job.

I loved this walk but it’s through cassowary territory (I saw 2 fresh scats) so I was a bit trepidatious about disturbing one of these giant birds up close - hence I was a bit distracted during the walk!

There are fan palms galore on the 1.2km walk (the orange fruit is eaten by the cassowary) and Mission Beach has 50% of the remaining fan palm forest in all of Australia. For this reason alone, the walk is worth seeking out. There is a nice boardwalk at the end and lots of interpretive signage explaining the plants & fauna.

To get there, you take a short 1km drive on unsealed road off Tully-Mission Beach Rd into a beautiful secluded location. A short children’s walk is adjacent which includes some fake cassowary footprints & eggs!

We walked the Dreaming Trail both directions, starting near intersection of El Arish Mission Beach and Banfield Roads and walked to the Lacey Creek Day Area. First 1.2km is flat on disused railway line, remaining 2km is a narrow undulating track that descends to and ascends from multiple creek crossings. The rainforest is amazing. We didn't see any cassowaries, but did hear one and came across plenty of fresh droppings, so they are around. Only downside was we went during a period with rain/mist present, and almost all in our group of 6 suffered multiple leech and mosquito bites. Good footwear is important - can be done in runners but they won't be the same again once finished. Not recommended for younger children.

If I could give Steve 6 stars I would! What an amazing service he has brought us, the stories he told were entertaining and kept us happy despite the rain. He is always right on time and it’s much more friendlier and cheaper than the taxis around the area!

I live nearby and do this walk often. If you are quiet - eg don't talk to each other - you will almost certainly see lace monitors and jungle fowl. Lace monitors are large black lizards (up to 1 metre with tail) covered in little white dots, like lacework. Beautiful. Jungle fowl are basically the ancestors of modern day chickens, surviving by ferreting around in the leaf litter. I have seen many other animals, but much more rarely - these two I always see.

The walk is good. You gain 220 metres in altitude, an average grade of 1 in 10, so will likely take longer than its length would suggest.

Great views of a tad difficult to find. Watch the sun rise or sunset and chill - bear in mind there is nothing else here but that view!

We failed to find photographic evidence of a real Cassowary while in Mission Beach but we stumbled upon this guy in the middle of town as suitable substitute 🤣

This is near a small shopping complex!

We took the Cuttens Brothers walking track to get here and it was an amazing walk and so worth it to see the lovely jetty at the end with great views along the way.

Excellent thing to do in the morning and even walk there after the markets on the weekend.

Just north of the main area of Mission Beach you come across the Perry Harvey Jetty and a small carpark with amenities that give you access to walk or fish off the jetty, or wander onto Narragon Beach

A water run off from roadside creates an interesting feature beside the jetty, great for exploring
