Park there walk to the platform see them from the top, but if you want to appreciate them you MUST go down holding on to the ropes that are located at the left of the platform.

There are a number of nice spots to picnic, some good hiking trails and you often see some of the elk that have been reintroduced into the park.
Spent the day at Cataloochee Valley in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park and had a fantastic day!

At mile marker 451.2 on the Blue Ridge Parkway there is a great stop with a National Park Service Visitor Center that is open seasonally.
Gift shop was also nice, with some nature information displays set up and an area with binoculars to look at the view and compare it with a map showing the towns nearby.
