#5 of 28 Nature & Parks in Rottnest Island
The beauty of me going 'out of season' was that I was sometimes the only person on the bus, so had a personal guided tour sometimes :) Take the time to walk them and watch the variety of birds on the lakes.
The first part of the trail is going around all the lakes closer to the Settlement, Garden Lake, Herschel Lake, Lake Vincent, Pink Lake and Lake Baghdad.

After a long solo swim I tried the other side of the bay and was rewarded with even more fish including my favourite a large shy octopus.
We’d hired bikes for the day so this was one of our stops; a beautiful beach, we could have spent the whole day here.

We stayed in a great villa on Thompsons Bay which was perfect for a family of three and friend and had everything you could need.

The best part of the trail is the last part where you will walk from Parakeet Bay to The Settlement along all the beaches.

An easy bike ride from The Settlement, or bus stop #18, Little Parakeet Bay offers a small little sandy beach that is protected from most winds (more so than The Basin).
The water is crystal clear and very safe to swim!

The other end of Cape Vlamingh feasts with turquoise clear lake surrounded by beautiful cliff.
Saw a few seals and the beautiful bay.
